Dreamin' of Palm Trees Posted August 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2011 Can anyone tell me if they had experienced any issues with bats when they were Cave Tubing? We really want to do this, but we do have someone in our group that will not be happy if there are bats to be seen or heard. Thanks!

Fourseventeen Posted August 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2011 actually we seen bats on ALL 3 of our trips Cave Tubing in Belize. In one of the dry caves we walked through I almost had me fly into me! In the water caves I always seen them inside but never had any close encounters with them flying at us. Dreamin' of Palm Trees Posted August 9, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted August 9, 2011 Thank-you Fourseventeen. That is what I needed to know, but not what I wanted to hear.

#1TravelMom Posted August 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2011 We just returned and didn't see any bats. Our daughter wanted to see them - we looked, but no sightings. I'd definately say do the cavetubing!
mara/molly Posted August 11, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2011 We just returned and did see bats sleeping. None were flying-it wasn't a problem at all.

sunny88 Posted August 23, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 23, 2011 We are thinking to do cave tubing, but my husband has lower back and neck pains in the past; Wondering 1. is tub comfortable for the hour trip ? 2. could the tubing cause problems for his back of neck? Thanks.

Thanks. There is a company that someone recently posted about. Their tubes are newer and they are the only company that I've read about that actually have a built in "pillow" for you head to rest on while you are tubing. VIV tours. Look them up. Snorkel2Much Posted August 24, 2011 #11 Share Posted August 24, 2011 We are thinking to do cave tubing, but my husband has lower back and neck pains in the past; Wondering 1. is tub comfortable for the hour trip ? 2. could the tubing cause problems for his back of neck? Thanks. The ride is very calm (not whitewater at all), but he will be seated for a long time at an odd angle holding his head up. Neck/back pains are possible. If you see whitewater don't get in the water. A potentially crowded cave and fast water = danger
sunny88 Posted August 24, 2011 #12 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Thanks for the inputs, I think we better play safe, pick other tours.
