Tour Provider in Lisbon?

Recommended Posts

In early October, we will be in Lisbon for a port call (9 am - 7 pm). There are six of us and mobility may be questionable so I'd like to arrange a private tour. I've seen a recommendation for InsideLisbon.com which looks good. Does anyone have feedback on them or other recommendations for tour companies in Lisbon?

Thanks! Bill

I cannot personally recommend this company, however, we are using them for our day in Lisbon. Just one more source for you to look at:

The are called taxivision and the have a site http://www.taxivision.com. I did find an old recommendation on trip advisor, but have not been able to find it since. If you get any reviews on them let me know.

Have fun, we are there the beginning of November.

Can't help with tour company; we usually tour on our own. Lisbon center is quite compact. Typical city tours are no more than 4 hrs; visiting Belem, Alfama & Praca do Comercio. Full day tours go to Sintra (definitely worth it; we spent 2 days there and still didn't cover everything) and/or Cascais/Estoril. As as alternative provider you can check out http://wehatetourismtours.com they offer 7 hr tour that covers Lisbon & surroundings (Sintra, Cabo Roca, etc).

Another way to see Lisbon is a walking tour and/or river cruise. See http://www.transtejo.pt/pt/turismo/turismo.html 2.5 hr cruise covers all of Lisbon shoreline (from Oriente/Parque De Nacoes to Belem) and is 20 euros

Highly recommending WHTT as we used them twice this past April from Lisbon. If you check out their website, you can see what type of tours are available in Lisbon and around town (i.e. Sintra, Cascais etc.).

In addition, by emailing them, especially for a party of 6, they can customize a tour just for your party for the day, ensuring you can see what you want and get back to your ship in time (they also provide pick-up and drop off at your Cruise Terminal if you get a customized tour in their famous van that's wheelchair accessible).

All their tour guides speak very well English, they are funny and very knowledgeble. Prices vary based on the type of tour/trip and duration, from €25.00/pp to maximum €50.00/pp.

Below you can check out our own experience with them (WHTT):

(X-DAY TRIP = a traveler's introduction to Lisbon, its surrounding areas and the Portuguese Culture.

This trip indeed took us on a breathtaking journey, starting in Lisbon, visiting Sintra, Guincho Beach, Cabo Da Roca, Cascais and Belem before returning to Downtown Lisbon. The excursion included lunch - homemade sandwiches and wine; then Pasteis de Belem - a delicious Portuguese egg custard tart pastry)

(Lisbon for the PIRATES OF THE CRUISE SHIPS = a traveler's introduction to Lisbon, its surrounding areas and the Portuguese Culture; designed for those coming to Lisbon via cruise ship with limited time and an unlimited imagination.

This trip was customized just for us - same price as listed on the website for the standard tour though - and it took us on another breathtaking journey, starting with an urban adventure traversing the Hills of Lisbon, then visiting Almada and its Monument of Christ, Sintra and its Pena Palace, and Belem with its famous Tower and Discoveries Monument before returning to the Cruise Terminal (sailaway day). The excursion included lunch; it started 8am and ended by 3:30pm - the embarkation time for the RCI "Vision of the Seas" cruise ship).

Finally, you can also choose a guided walking tour in Lisbon or other local private tours by checking options at:

In Lisbon, Portugal we arranged a private tour with www.sunnytours-pt.com that started by going outside of Lisbon to visit to the beautiful little mountain town of Sintra (UNESCO world heritage site). Next we headed to the coastal town of Cabo da Roca (most western point of Continental Europe) and then drove south along the coastal road known as the as the Portuguese Riviera. We passed through the old fishing port of Cascals and Estoril (casino and gardens) before returning to Lisbon. Our tour of Lisbon started in the Belem district and included the Jeronimos Monastery (UNESCO world heritage site), Belem Tower, Discoveries Monument and a drive through the city.

While in the Belem district be sure and visit Café Pastéis de Belém for one of their world famous pastries http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Portugal/Distrito_de_Lisboa/Lisbon-286122/Restaurants-Lisbon-Cafe_Pasteis_de_Belem-BR-1.html .

Click on the link at the bottom of this message for information on viewing my youtube travel videos that include the places mentioned about from our port call in Lisbon.

I hope this helps.

just letting you know that our 12 hour tour in Lisbon a few weeks back was a big hit! Everything was great and we got to see everything we wanted and more. We went from one end to another. We stayed at the Radisson Blu hotel for 2 nights. One night, ate at the hotel restaurant. It was okay. The next night, we ate at the Chinese restaurant next door and it was FABULOUS! I can't believe that I had to go all the way to Portugal to get the best Chinese food I have ever eaten.

I also can recommend the X-Day Tour offered by We Hate Tourism Tours. Our driver/guide, Miguel, was great company, and it was fun seeing the sights with just seven other people in the company's bright yellow VW van. It was a full day of sightseeing, including a tailgate picnic in Sintra and delicious Belem pastries near the end of our journey. Excellent value for the money.

We had a wonderful tour with info@lisbontaxis.com.pt. The owner, Pedro, sent a great driver named Alex who took us to Sintra in a comfortable van. He spoke excellent English and made reservations for us at the Quinta de Regaleira. We were the only two on the tour.

Last year we had done a Lisbon/Sintra tour and wanted to do just Sintra this year.

Sintra is amazing! We had visited the Pena Palace last year and were enthralled. I had never seen anything like it. When I got home I looked up more info on Sintra and discovered th Quinta da Regaleira. It was my destination this year! Be sure to use the guide with the palace as there are so many symbols in the garden of statues, lakes, grottoes, caves, and well (subterranean tower) with its secret stone door. The palace is beautiful!

Next year we want to go back to see the Queluz Place, Monastery of Capuchos, Monserrate Palace, National Palace, and Seteais Palace. Sintra is a wonderful area of constant surprises!! You will want to return many times!
