paul929207 Posted August 17, 2011 #26 Share Posted August 17, 2011 We have gotten an invitation delivered to our cabin the first day along with the Elite welcome letter.
julia Posted August 17, 2011 #27 Share Posted August 17, 2011 Vickie is correct on the nice appetizers.... they are QUITE lovely! ( I'm still thinking about that Stilton cheese with the port wine reduction!) :) However, I do wish that the $3.99 would apply to any wine or cocktail, (thus making it more of a "happy hour" feel), because sometimes the DOD wasn't all that great. caribill Posted August 17, 2011 #28 Share Posted August 17, 2011 I will be Elite for the first time on my upcoming cruise. How does the wine tasting work? Do you get an invitataion? If not how do you know when and where it will be held? Even if you do not get a notice, it will be in the Patter listed as "Princess Grapevine (wine tasting)." This is not to be confused with the "Sommelier Wine Club" which has a charge for everyone who attends.

margord Posted August 17, 2011 #30 Share Posted August 17, 2011 I've seen it done two ways: - one an invitation card is delivered to your cabin (usually with embarkation letter with all the perks) that you present to the staff person at the desk at the wine tasting - or you are told to just show up and show your cruise card Either way they give you the date and time, correct? CruisefanfromCA Posted August 20, 2011 #34 Share Posted August 20, 2011 I leave on my first Elite cruise in two weeks and I am wondering about the mini-bar setup. I don't like whiskey or scotch or cognac - do I get a choice and how do I let them know my preference? and if they put stuff in I don't like can I switch it with ones I like? and who would I tell, my room steward? Just call room service. Tell them what you want to exchange and what you want in return. What you can get in return must be the same types that were there originally, so you will be limited to more vodka in exchange for whiskey, scotch ande cognac. You can also exchange your entire minibar for a bottle of wine. We are white wine drinkers, and the choice they give is a Kendall Jackson Chardonnay, or a Nobilo. Don't know the red choices, sorry. But they will take everything....including the waters, beer, etc., in the frig. We call room service immediately when we enter the room, and it is usually exchanged out within the hour. They also have gin and vodka. You can trade all 8 minis for 8 of what you want from their rather limited selection.
earljr Posted August 20, 2011 #38 Share Posted August 20, 2011 On our last cruise, Caribbean Princess had the "Power Hour" during the hours of the Platinum/Elite lounge, so those drinks were available too... Never have seen this. But this makes a lot of sense, to me anyway. DW only enjoys certain drinks and this would make her more willing to attend the P/E lounge event -- of course making me willing to go more often :)
