Is the Dining Room open day of departure ?

I am on the Splendor. My experience is that the buffet on the day of departure is a zoo. I'd like to avoid it if I can.

 

With that in mind, does anyone know if any dining rooms are open the day of departure. if so what are the hours ?

It MAY be open for lunch. If the ship is near maximum capacity they will open the one of the main dining rooms for lunch to ease the crowding on the Lido Deck...

Only dining room that Carnival opens from what i've heard is SOMETIMES the DREAM....

This past Feb on the Dream, one of the MDR was open. We found it after we had ate at the buffet when we were touring the ship. Should have read the capers when we boarded.

Room service is not available - it starts about 5pm. (or after the safety briefing)

On the Dream last week, the MD was closed on embarkment lunch even though the ship was over 100 % capacity. Every cabin was full and there were over 1500 kids on board as well. We were at the park and cruise around 10 am and there were small lines at the buffet around 11:30 when we eventually got up to the buffet. The mongolian always had the longest lines. As has been previously sais on this board, not everyone knows about the italian station on deck 11 and this pretty quiet the 1st lunch.

The only CCL ship I've sailed where the MDR was open for lunch was Dream and that was both times I was on the ship.

 

All the other ships there was just a maitre d there taking dining requests. No food.
