Warm Breezes Posted August 24, 2011 #30 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Do you ever think to buy someone a drink? like some really nice people that you meet? soda or wine or whatever? or do you say....can I get you lemonade from the fountain? lol. Why do you think everyone even needs to meet any really nice people on a cruise? We go on cruises to have family time together, not to meet strangers and buy them drinks (we rarely buy ourselves one let alone splurge on a stranger). That's why we prefer ATD. I get enough socializing with others at work and home. Our cruises are all about family and my family likes the lemonade and ice tea:D.
golfb4cruzing Posted August 24, 2011 #31 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Back in 2006, I was starting a new business, so that cruise was it for awhile and 7 day work weeks lay ahead of me for whatever it took. So the wife was pampered. We were on the Glory and they had blue diamonds on sale (at least that's what they said) and somehow my tight fists loosened. So matching earrings came along and I can't (blocked from memory) remember what else but I woke up on the last day and that dreaded piece of paper had been slid under my door. So 5 years later we are cruising again and I'm back to my usual puckered self:D

gogetter Posted August 24, 2011 #38 Share Posted August 24, 2011 I read about people bragging how little they spend. Good for you. For those proud to go nuts financially on a cruise for whatever you enjoy feel free to post your total bill for a week cruise here.....or break down by day. My family of 4 had a bill of $1,800 for an 8 nighter. We had a blast....Could have done more but didn't want to go totally nuts. DO you mean to actually scan and post your sail and sign receipt or just stating how much you spent is ok?
elcuchio24 Posted August 24, 2011 #39 Share Posted August 24, 2011 A coworker of mine and her husband rang up $1400 on a 7 nighter, all in alcohol. She doesn't drink.
gogetter Posted August 24, 2011 #40 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Niece, husband and 2 kids spent $10,000 on a 7 day. First cruise. Lots of gambling. Did some excursions and shopped. They 'won' a cruise on that one. The 2 of them used it to go to Alaska. Bill this time, $1800.00. Said they walked straight through the casino. WOW. I wish i had 10 grand to spend on a cruise. Congrats for living large!!!!
nick_091909 Posted August 24, 2011 #41 Share Posted August 24, 2011 $1195 on our last 7 day for 2 of us. No excursions but did a couple spa treatments, some gambling, and beverages. I'm starting this next cruise with $800 of obc we pre-added. Hope to eliminate some of the sticker shock at the end of the cruise this way. ItsAllAboutTheSass Posted August 24, 2011 #43 Share Posted August 24, 2011 We average about $100 per day. Now I remember one trip right after my aunt/godmother passed away. She left my uncle/godfather instructions to take their kids, grandkids, me and DW and my Sister and her kids on a cruise and they only thing that we were to pay for was our transport to and from the cruise ship. Uncle paid everything else (This included 1 night pre flight hotel, 1 night pre cruise hotel and 1 night post cruise hotel. I remember seeing a 5 page bill in his hand the final morning. He got some killer Marriott points.
brooklynfc Posted August 24, 2011 #44 Share Posted August 24, 2011 I think my first bill was $500, but you have to subtract that I paid for some of my friends pictures b/c her card stopped working. So really only about $350 and that was my own pictures, a spa treatment and drinks. I think the highest I've went, total, for all my stuff has been $500 so far. This time I might go more b/c I want to do more than one spa treatment and its my birthday.
dremn2004 Posted August 24, 2011 #45 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Either that or she had a "teally rood gime!" :D lol... OK, yes bday is the 14th and anniversary the 31st. I put anniversary first out of habit, I guess, because we always celebrate that, but due to the fact that I refuse to be older than 25, we often do not celebrate our birthdays.... Warm Breezes Posted August 24, 2011 #47 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Is generousity a favorable trait. You bet. Is stinginess a negative trait. of course it is. So are you saying that if some people don't like to socialize with complete strangers on a cruise and buy them a drink that they are not generous people? And if some people don't purchase items that they don't want or need, they are stingy?:rolleyes::confused:

jlfawley Posted August 24, 2011 #49 Share Posted August 24, 2011 In March, was 2 of us... husband and myself. 7 day cruise, NO excursions booked through cruiseline and only bought 2 pictures total. Our sail and sign account was just under $900. Plus the cash we spent in the casino and the cash we spent at ports. Not sure how our sail and sign account was so high. All tips were prepaid when we booked our cruise. But... it was our 10th anniversary and we left our kids at home, we really enjoyed ourselves on this trip!:D
carncruiser1964 Posted August 24, 2011 #50 Share Posted August 24, 2011 Well, hubby & I got married on the Spirit in 2003 and bought many pictures and had the huge portrait made and bought the DVD of all the wedding pics. Many drinks and lots of gambling later we walked off the ship with around a $7,800 S&S bill. Yep, those were the days.....Certainly wouldn't do that again. But, hey, it was our wedding and honeymoon and it was very memorable!
