Posh Pass on the Epic

Good Evening All,

 

I've heard bits and pieces about the 'Posh Pass'. I am sailing on the Epic 19/11/11 and have a few questions:

1) Ballpark figure, how much should it cost?

2) What does it include?

3) Should it be available from Reception/Guest Services just after embarking?

avaialble on first come first serve basis from guest relations-book as soon as you get on board

 

cost $60 per week or $15 daily basis

 

allows access to private sun lounger area with views over pool deck,lots of padded loungers,seats sun umbrellas and 4 clamshells

 

the bar staff will sell you drinks but will provide complimentary iced water and cold towels etc

 

personally it was worth it for me as a quiet luxurious area

Plus it is away of the madness of the pool area. The upper deck on Posh is adult only too. Posh is great

By "adults only" would this mean "freestyle" sun bathing? I know that Epic's Deck 19 is the FreeStyle Sundeck (nude sunbathing or topless), but was wondering if Epic's Posh is adult only on the upper deck, if this would also be the case?

I did not mean it was a nude sundeck. I only know it is an adult area because I was on the upper deck and there were some teenagers that ran upstairs and the waiter told them it was an adult area only and told them to leave. The upper deck of Posh has a nice view but it is loud since you are near the generators, etc.

I would have preferred the lower deck on Posh right next to the bar but it was too crowded.

Ok so we are the ones that buy the posh pass so don't bash us since I know there are courtyard villa people out there that don't believe that a pass should be sold.

 

We paid $ 59 for a 7 night Caribbean cruise and are doing the Transatlantic in 2 weeks from Barcelona to Miami on the Epic 13 nights.

 

Can we expect to pay twice the price than the 7 night and do you think it is really worth it on a Transatlantic when the weather may be unpredictable?

 

Yes we should buy it or no reason for it? Don't expect that ship is going to be very full.

for the posh pass and also the spa pass.

Anyone whose done the earlier TA this year from Miami to Barcelona any

commemts, ie price, weather etc??

I have a question..for those of you who have used the posh area..did you find the area to be too hot? I usually lay out by the pool all day so I am close to water in case I get too warm. Does the area have any misters or shower in the area to cool down if needed? Or did you find the area to be fine? Any feedback would be appreciated..

there are 4 clamshells which you can pull the cover over for some shade

 

the waiters did go round with hand held spritzers or iced towels occasionally which was appreciated

 

I honestly cant remember any misters or showers

Yes, there are misters at POSH. They are located right when you walk out of the door from the deck below, near the bar. I guess it depends what time of year you are going, we just got back last week it was about 86 degrees and it felt great at POSH. The breeze did help though. The staff does come around with wet towels and fresh fruit on sticks. It was great!

when i used posh i found the area nice but chilly we were on epic in march remeber it is higher up and the wind does kick in

but the beds are very nice and comfy

Sounds like a great idea! We definitley will try and get one of these passes when we sail Apr 7/12. We don't have children, so I'm glad that there is somewhere to "get away" while on our cruise!

Does anyone know if there are adult only cruises with NCL?

This is our first cruise and if we enjoy it, but find that there are too many screaming kids and parents, we may want to try and book an adult only the next time....:D

We've most always sailed on the Canadian spring break in March and found more college students (aka partiers) than families on the ship.

There were more children on a cruise we took over the Christmas break, however, never noticed a 'screaming child or parent' anywhere. We tend to do things on the ship where there are fewer children - not to avoid them but just because of interests. Never a problem with college students or children.

No - NCL does not have an adults only cruise, but if you avoid holidays, I'm sure there will be significantly less. Since you are sailing on Easter weekend, I imagine there may more families with children.

On our sailing 1/28/12, no part of Posh was open to kids, as evidenced by the sign that said " Adults Only: Thank You for your Cooperation" as you enter from the deck 18 lobby. On the first sea day, A suite passenger came up from 16 in the outside elevator with a boy in a stroller (I recognized him from Epic Club) and he was escorted out by the waiter.

 

Not sure where the "one level allows kids" comes from, but it wasn't true a month ago when we were onboard.

I've read on another site that kids were allowed the first couple days then there was a sign saying no kids the rest of the week?

 

Maybe it depends on how full it is. I'm not so sure kids would want to hang out up there any ways but it would be nice if the parents could sit up there while the kids played down by the pool and the kids could come up to get rooms keys or whatever.

We brought posh passes last week (2/18 sailing). Never saw a sign at either entrance limiting access. They sold a pass to my 17 year old and saw a few other teens but definitely no younger kids. We used it every day and it was very quiet and uncrowded will the pool deck was packed. We would definitely buy again. Also joined the sail away up there the first day and enjoyed free champagne.

Been at Posh every day this week. Excellent place to escape while still enjoying some of the poolside ambience, just a few decks above. No kids allowed all week (nice for us adults who want to simply relax). Bartenders Sanil and Jayson are fantastic. Misters along one wall plus spritzer from the staff. Smoking allowed. 20 passes sold this week, but never too crowded. Key access only. Best place on the ship. freestyle deck is next door.

 

Haven pool area is full of kids, not really a problem if you don't use it, but the hot tubs and small pool are pretty full of children. Forward Haven deck is hard to find, use stairs thru the changing areas, but has the best view on the ship.

LOL - you picked the wrong week (Apr 7th) to be on a cruise without screaming kids. Easter week is the Northeast spring break. Last time we went on a cruise that week, out of 4,000 passengers, over 900 were children.

Children are only allowed in Posh at Embarkation Day and for the Suite Sail Away Party! Then the whole Club becomes adult only for the reminder of the cruise!
