Bar Credit - Shipboard Credit

Just looked on Celebrity's website to cost purchasing OBC, and it lists among other types of credit, Bar Credit and Shipboard Credit.

Obviously, you'd only be able to use 'Bar Credit' at the bars, but can you use 'Shipboard Credit' to count against any purchases made in the bars. Any OBC that we purchase, will more than likely go on alcohol, but I don't want it to be just limited to that by buying 'Bar Credit'. If we can basically use 'Shipboard Credit' for any purchases on the ship then it will make sense for us to just purchase a load of this one.

Many Thanks

David

Hi David !

Definitely go with the General Shipboard Credit. We do it often, especially when family & friends have a Special Occasion. This way, you will have flexibility throughout the ship, including Bars, Casino etc. Keep in mind, that if you request chips or money from the Casino, there is a 3% surcharge.

I've never understood the logic of a Casino Credit or Bar Credit, other than as a specific Gift for someone who enjoys such activities. Even then, I'd purchase them a General Shipboard Credit, so they have options. Not too long ago, there was a reason to buy the Casino Credit, as you were not charged the 3% fee. From my recent experiences, Celebrity has closed that loophole.

I hope this helps. Enjoy your Cruise !

Hi David,

I noticed you are from the UK,

I always but the OBC, you will notice that the vouchers come in

£25 vouchers and you can add them to your cart 9 at a time.

The great thing is that X give an excellent rate.

I think the last time I looked it was $1,62 to the pound.

Also if you buy any of the drink packages make sure they don't

charge the 15% gratuity twice,

Have a great cruise see you are a Saints Fan.

I know that you meant US$25 vouchers rather than £25 but I have posted the correction just in case it confuses others!!! Otherwise, you are correct, for people in the UK, Celebrity OBC usually represents excellent value.

Don't know if you've mistyped, but when I did a dummy booking, it looked like they where in $25 vouchers as I was only getting charged around £14 per 1. This worked out at a exchange rate of around $1.63 - £1.

Was thinking about the drinks package, has we like a drink or 3 or 4 on holiday but it's a port intensive med cruise we're on. So, I don't think we'd make use of it, not that we wouldn't give it a good go.

Yes, am a Saints fan originally from St Helens, left many years ago to join the RAF.

Didn't see your post when I made the above reply.....I thought it was just a typo.
