Question about "Country Club Casual" dress code

I need clarification, please. Marina's brochure says the dress code is "country club casual" but state that sandals are not allowed in the nicer restaurants at dinner.

I have really nice pants and dresses and very nice open-toe "dressy" sandals that I would like to wear. Would these be acceptable?

Do not wear your Birkenstocks to dinner please. Especially with socks.

Thanks all. Oceania's brochure is misleading to say "sandals not allowed" They should be more specific. I am happy that there are no "formal" nights. Much more relaxing. I am sure I will see everything from dressy to very casual dress. Have not been on a cruise in years so it will be interesting.

Some people think of beach type shoes as sandals & dressier open toed strappy shoes as dress shoes

Just do not wear flip flops, Berks, crocs to dinner & you will not have a problem

Oh and no sneakers either ;)

It is very difficult to be specific when dealing with a casual dress code...

You've got to leave the passengers a bit of leeway...

It's sort of like the famous quote from Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart who said he couldn't define pornography but "I know it when I see it"...

Most people can't really define the Oceania dress code, but you just have to "know it when you see it"...If it doesn't look "proper", you probably shouldn't wear it...If it appear totally acceptable, it's probably okay...

There is a very thin line between what would be called a "sandal" and what would just be considered a shoe in women's shoes...so many women's shoes seem to be a combination of a sole and various straps--by strict definition a "sandal", but totally acceptable as something one might wear to a restaurnt for dinner almost anywhere...

Just use your taste and good judgment as a guide...

Excellently put, Steve!

Here is the dress code from our Florida club. Hope it is helpful:

Men: Slacks, collared and banded collar button down shirts, collared long sleeve knit shirts and crew neck sweaters are acceptable. Shirts must be tucked in at all times except for banded bottom shirts. Jackets are preferred but not required. Dress tee shirts may be worn with jackets. Exceptions: No shorts, hats, sneakers, jeans, tank tops, tee shirts or polo shirts.

Summer Dress Code May 15 - Oct 15. All of the above plus polo shirts without logos are allowed.

Women: Smart country club attire. Exceptions: No shorts, jeans, jean outfits, warm up suits, golf shirt, tank tops, Hawaiian shirts or sneakers.

I'd say that's a bit more strict than the Oceania dress code.

I would think for men, open toed sandals should not be worn at dinner.

I don't have "dressy" sandals. I wear my open toe strapless flat sandals to dinner but they are not flip flops. The dress code is trying to avoid crocs, plastic flip flops and Tevo type sandals. The code only applies to dinner and not lunch or breakfast by the way.

At Disneyland's private club 33, which provides a fine dining atmosphere to people who have likely been schlepping around an amusement park all day, flip flops are defined as any sandal w/o the strap that goes around the back of your heel, thus preventing the flipping and/or the flopping. I personally would add that if your footwear is made of rubber or plastic, it is unacceptable unless you are 6 years old and wearing your Princess shoes.
