Any one been to Bannister Island??? Either from the ship's excursion or on your own. We will be on the Mariner of the Seas in November and this is the only thing that interest me, but I can't find enough information about the little island.

Any thoughts:D:)

We have booked an excursion there from the Mariner for Feb. Go to you tube and search on Bannister Island. There are lots of videos of it

Bannister Caye or Goff's Caye are really your two best bets for a beach day in Belize.

The problem i have with Bannister is that it is a man-made island. From my understanding the sand is not very nice and the snorkeling isn't very good.

The alternative is Goff's Caye which is a natural island and does have snorkeling. There are boats that take you to Goff's from the cruise ship terminal.

Here are some pics of Goffs Caye http://ambergriscaye.com/pages/photos/565.html

Haven't been to Bannister, but love Goff's Caye. The island is about one acre and has snorkeling from the beach, as well as a sandy beach with gentle lapping waves. Seemed like you could walk forever, into the open ocean, before it got deep. The island is very small, but only a limited number of people are allowed there each day and it didn't seem crowded at all. We booked this on the pier, but you can book ahead and save a few bucks: http://belizecruiseexcursions.com/BelizeBeachSnorkeling.htm
