Any recommendations for independent tours from this port?

Or has anyone taken a ship's tour that they would recommend taking or not taking from this port?

We just returned from our Western Med cruise on Liberty of the Seas. One of our roll call members arranged a private tour for six of us with Ingrid of Kultours. Even though I didn't see much about her on cruise critic, she was great! She was there right when we got off the ship at 8 a.m and returned us to Villefranche around 5 p.m. It was 500 E total for the 6 of us. We went to Nice, St. Paul de Vence, Monaco/Monte Carlo (just drove through) and Eze. She actually walked with us through the streets of Nice giving us history and highlights. St. Paul de Vence was charming and a must see. This is a great port stop. After you try a private tour, you won't want to do anything else. They are expensive for just 2, but if you can get together 4 or 6 people they are usually less expensive than the ship tours.

Thanks, I will try to contact her

We used Revelation Tours when we visited Nice, Eze and St. Paul de Vence.

It was a fabulous day, and we saw so much but never felt rushed.

Enjoy your cruise!

Just returned from 12 day Brilliance cruise. Our favorite tour guide was from Villefranche (and we booked some of the "stars" such as RIL, so this is really a compliment). We booked a 4 hour tour with Michele of Exclusive Riviera. He packed in every single thing we asked, from Eze to St. Paul de Vence. He grew up in Villefranche and took us to some out of the way sights we would have missed otherwise. He will customize to your needs. We were intending to DIY and changed our minds at a late date. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with him and give him our highest recommendation.

  • 2 weeks later...

We just got off the Liberty of the Seas Western Med cruise. At the last minute to took the Cruise ship tour (which we don't often do) to the French Riviera and were pleasantly pleased. It was $59.00 per person and our Tour Guide was really great. I do believe that made the difference for this tour. We did enjoy the market place right there at the Pier. The views are magnificent and most favorite pictures of all we took... really!!!. The marketplace has small little winding streets with wonderful little sandwiches, shops, which you will miss if you don't venture from the ship. You must walk in this port as there are many picture opportunities. I loved this quaint little port. One word of caution. We tried to take the train to Nice, but did not have Euro Change (not dollars but coins) to put in the machine for the tickets and therefore we did not go. So if you plan on taking the train from this port to Nice, get coins from your ship purser before you disembark. The machines are in French, but locals will help. Enjoy this wonderful little village. It is really beautiful.

Just returned from the Solstice. Eight of us took a private tour with Sylvie. She was highly knowledgable, professional and so much fun. She navigated the tight roads, stopped for pictures at fabulous sights and made reservations for lunch. She was willing to do whatever we wanted. Our day was fabulous at a fraction of the ship's price. Can't recommend her more highly. Her contact is http://www.frenchrivieraguides.net/.

You answered one of my posts on the Dubrovnik board. We are also using Sylvie when we are in Monte Carlo and she is taking us to Eze, St, Paul de Vence and Nice. Have always heard such good things about her and glad to hear how much you enjoyed her tour. She gave us the name of Catherine D'Antuono (spelling) for out stop in Marseille. Did you go there and use her too? We have Romeinlimo for Rome, Florence, Sorrento and Amalfi/Positano - maybe you used them too.
