Have a great time! We were on the 9/11 Miracle sailing and had the best time! If you haven't done it before, try to make it to Fort Hamilton and 'walk the moat'..the jungle down below. It was a world of its own and beautiful!

Oh wow! Will definitely try to do that, thanks! This will be our 9th trip there & I don't think we have ever done that, always try to do something new. Hoping the weather cooperates for us. Looking a little iffy at the moment.

As you cross over the first 'bridge' into the fort, you will notice down below an overgrown, jungle like place! That is it...there is a staircase down after you are within the fort. I think there may be sign indicating 'jungle'. There was a precious orange cat down there that followed us the entire way around! Say hello to him! It is magical! Would go again, just to see it again...and by the way, we had TS Maria pass by the day we went down there!! It was kind of spooky with the wind howling, the rain falling and the trees bending down while we were below it all! Enjoy!

Fort Hamilton sounds like alot of fun.....must check into it.....are there alot of stairs? any other way to get down there?? (Hubby has back problems and doesnt do alot of hiking around)....

Fingers crossed for GREAT weather....thankfully, Ophelia died out....I do see the forecast indicating some rain.....(but I think they are wrong :D)

Have a great trip.

When planning, please be aware that many things in Bermuda may be closed on Sunday.

they may be lucky that they are already gone by sunday, or that's their half day.

edit: yes, they sail at 5 on sunday. a good beach day, or a day to hand around the dockyard.

wow. looking for a breakdown of dates, they are offering this cruise right now for $516 for 8 days!

Oh wow, I just looked too, surprised to see, it appeared to be sold out about a week ago! An interior is about $100 less than they had been selling for, which was a steal to begin with. We got an OS & booked ES, got it for a steal also. About 3 weeks after we booked the price shot up about $400 & stayed there til the suites sold out!!

We are due to arrive in Bermuda at 8am Friday & are scheduled to leave at 5pm on Sunday.

When was the last time anyone has gone down the stairs to the garden? We went in August and the gate was locked preventing access to the stairs leading down to the garden, sign on the gate "closed for renovations" it had been closed for over a year because we'd gone there last year at the same time. The rest of the fort was open.

I don't know for sure but if your referring to the staircase jmwg49 directed us to, then she was there just about 10 days ago, on the 9/11 sailing..

I was down there a week and a half ago! The stairs were open..there were a few gates down there with signs on them saying 'do not enter', but they were open. Others on our cruise went the following day, and it was open.

The walk up to the fort is a long one. Take a cab! Someone with bad back, knees etc will not do well getting up there. The stairs DOWN to the jungle area were about 10 or so.

Thanks for the update, we were on Veendam Aug 14th. I'm glad it's open again. If you get a chance to go to St.George, Fort St.Catherine is really spectacular. It's really nice inside, museum, cannons, view --all good! Cheers
