Hurricanes!!

Going on Oct. 12, Zaandam to Mexico and it looks like there will be 2 hurricanes to greet us!!! Jova and Irwin, yikes! I have all my cute outfits ready, but I think I should take my raincoat and umbrella instead. I'm glad we have a suite as I think we will spending a lot of time in it. Thats o.k., I sleep really well when the ship rocks and rolls, but I'm a little disappointed because I think the way things look, we will miss some ports. We'll just have to "go with the flow".

You have a great attitude. Storms often change course, even last minute so don't get too sure of what will happen.

IF weather does hit the areas you are to visit, it is possible the ship may divert.

Captain will always do what is the most safe and will do what he can to provide the best weather possible.

Let us know how it goes.

I feel very safe onboard ship, I'm never concerned about my safety. We cruise to Mexico twice a year (7 days - Oosterdam) as we live in Northern California and its so easy leaving out of San Diego, but we were really looking forward to the ports of Manzanillo, Huatulco and Zihuatanejo, because they have many beautiful resorts there, sooo, I guess if we don't stop there we will just have to fly down and check it out. Actually, you could just put me a ship to anywhere and I'd be happy....

We were in Hurricane Katrina...

Yes we experienced some rolling and some rain but we had NO idea that it was the BIG one on the way to hit the gulf coast.

Riding out the storm on the ship was really no problem at all. Granted, it happened to be a sea day for us anyway.

When we were at dinner on Oosterdam last Friday, the Captain announced that Puerto Vallarta was now cancelled due to the hurricanes. Instead they would go to La Paz and Cabo, both on the Baja peninsula, thuse keeping the ship well north of the hurricanes' path.
