Concierge Cabin Sparkling Wine

Can I bring the free bottle of sparkling wine to the MDR without a corking fee? Also, can they recork the sparking wine for the next day.

Yes - There is never a corkage fee on any wine purchased from, or provided by, Celebrity.

They should have champagne corks to cork this but I can't say for certain as we've never had any left over sparkling wine in the dining room. These work OK but don't keep the wine perfect and it is usually at least a slightly flatter then next day.

If Celebrity gave it to you, then there is no corkage fee. What I usually do is have either my cabin steward or the dining room sommelier exchange it for a red. Once I open the sparkling, it does not have the same taste the next day, whereas red will last me a few days

So - u can ask to exchange the 'bubbly' for a bottle of other wine - perhaps u cld ask to exchange for a more expensive bottle and pay the difference?

Thanks in advance for any info...:)

We did that a few times.... but we have, as of late, started to enjoy it on the balcony with friends to "toast" our cruise. I'm not a fan of "sparkling wine" but the price is right isn't it.

The general answer is yes, but there have been some cases reported here on cruise critic where requests to exchange have been refused.

Some have done this through their cabin steward and others, including us, have done this through their wine sommelier in the dining room. In the past we've been told that as long as the wine is one of the ones listed for sale in the MDR wine list then it can be exchanged for credit towards a different wine.

It certainly can't hurt to ask.

Nice pictures from A Sixth, plus great added info from Larry and others. The Concierge Cabin sparking wine is not actually a real "Champagne", but it is "OK" with the right pricing. They won't always exchange it, but it's worth asking and in most cases they will. That buying a bottle of wine and having it held for a later use with the rest of the bottle works well.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Recently back from a June 7-19 Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. Dozens of wonderful visuals with key highlights, tips, comments, etc., on these postings. On the Eclipse last November, the cabin steward refused to exchange it for another wine.

Requests to exchange it during the last year have been denied even though we offered to pay the difference in price. Neither the stateroom attendant or the wine steward would do the exchange. We were told that it came out of different budgets. This perk does us no good as neither of us likes sparkling wine.

The first question has been answered by others. Thank you. If you want to re-cork the sparkling wine, you may purchase one of these stoppers and bring it with you. We learned it last time we had to throw away the "flat" wine. Enjoy!

Ah, just accept it and enjoy it, I say. Would it be better if it were real champagne? Of course, but it's absolutely fine, not too sweet-- and perfect to enjoy in your first moments on board. It's just a little fizzy "Hello, and welcome!" gesture, not worth troubling a butler or a steward over--you'll see! Take in your new digs for the cruise, have a toast-- and let it go!

Bring a bottle of something you love for later, perhaps?

We've done it on our 3 Celebrity cruises, but each one was done in a different way.

1. Our stateroom steward took care of it easily (on Century).

2. Our stateroom steward was unable to do it, but the sommelier in Blu (Solstice) did it with no problem.

3. On our most recent Summit cruise, neither our stateroom steward nor the sommelier in the MDR did it, but the guest concierge got us a bottle of basic red.

No pattern, but ultimately success on each cruise.

In any case, we always board with our 2 bottles of red so we can enjoy an afternoon glass of wine with our cheese and crackers (which we ask for in exchange for the canapes).

The times we exchanged it, as I recall it never went the same way twice....

In Aqua class how do you arrange for exchange of canapes for something else? Our experience has been stale canapes every time. What other choices can we anticipate and not be unrealistic?

Papa Abu-

All we ever have to do is ask our room steward to replace the canapes with cheese and crackers. We've also always asked for fresh cookies to be brought everyday. One person we've spoken to asked for a shrimp cocktail to be brought instead of the canapes.

We're also in the same boat as Cruising Teacher. We just don't enjoy sparkling wines and were told the Conciege wine came out of a budget with no monetary value to the bottle, so no exchange. We solved what to do with it by giving it to our Casino Host for her private use. Apparently the crew have private parties and she shared it with friends then.

Since we're in the casino every night, we also save our pillow chocolates and bring them down to the casino on the last night and leave them for the dealers, cage personnel and techs. We're been doing that for many years and the casino staff are always so surprised and happy by the gesture.

So if you don't enjoy the complimentary sparkling wine, find a crew member who has made you trip even more enjoyable and gift it.

We have taken it to the dining room, and asked if we could get a credit for its value to purchase a bottle of red wine (we enjoy reds, I'm sure because of the cardiac benefits:D. We have always been accommodated, but when you see the credit on your account, you will have a good idea of how Celebrity values that bottle!
