Me too, that is another cutback that they have made... of course I always got the burgers.. only a couple of times did I get the chicken sandwich.. but you are correct... chicken and steak sandwiches were at the grill

But....good news, I think.....there have been posts in this thread that says the chicken is still available - but you have to "request" it and wait for it to be prepared. That's ok with me.....I'll wait ;)

So....on the Magic - in 44 days - I will be checking the grill for chicken!! ;) :D

I still don't think the majority of the passengers are washing their hands before entering the Lido. People come directly from the pool, casino, etc and go directly to the buffet, it's that kind of crowd. The only way to assure hands are at least given a squirt is to encourage use of the hand sanitizer.

I appreciate your review and your honest critique. However, I can't understand why this is such an issue for you. When you go out to eat at a restaurant, do you pay attention to how many people at the tables around you do or don't wash their hands? I see people at the gym use the restroom and not wash their hands. I see businessmen on airplanes use the restroom and not wash their hands. Sometimes I wonder if the CDC reported that hand washing is not necessary any more because many people these days just don't wash their hands. I personally think it's gross not to, but not everyone thinks so. Belittling Carnival passengers as "that kind of crowd" isn't fair, when in reality there are many people around you in your every day life that likely don't always wash or use sanitizer either and you just don't know it. It's ok to want to try another cruise line if you don't enjoy Carnival any more. It just seems like you're digging for reasons to not come back to Carnival when it's not necessary.

When I'm confined with almost 4000 passengers for 9 days, most eating at the same buffet line for breakfast and lunch, it concerns me. When I eat at a sit down restaurant, I couldn't care less what passengers/customers do.

And you pay strict attention to where all those 4,000 passengers are coming from, and of course you know they did not stop at the restroom to wash their hands before proceeding to the Lido for lunch. Um, okay...whatever... ;)

But at a sit down restaurant you don't care. Well that makes a lot of sense, ummm hmmm. What about people who have touched the chair before you? And don't forget all the germs on the menu. And on the cutlery someone has placed on the table. And the salt and pepper shakers. And the cream container, or maybe those little packets of sugar and creamers in the little caddy (lots of little kids enjoy playing with those so they will have tons of germs on them), etc. etc. etc. And I won't even go into what happens in the kitchen! ;)

Exactly!

This is no more of a problem on a Carnival ship than it is on any other - or any place that there are groups of people - except the the OP is trying to make it an issue.

Exactly my point, and other lines have a staff member reminding guests to use the hand sanitzer and not to put their personal jugs and bottles at the beverage spigots. I guess Carnival passengers don't need a reminder since all 4000 rush to the restrooms to wash their hands before eating. Make me laugh. :D

And this is a problem because ???????????

The the price you pay for a Carnival cruise....you really aren't expecting a "Four Seasons" experience...are you?

A problem perhaps because, some people (myself included) want to wait until after the main courses are finished to see if there is room for dessert.

"Four Seasons", nope . . . . . but at least Chili's, or Olive Garden, where desserts are listed on the general menu, but . . . . see above.

I believe the point the OP is making is that she objects to ordering dessert before and not after dinner.

As you can see, the OP is on an agenda to keep things riled up, likely posted for that exact reason. He's not responding to anything, must be mentally challenged. Logic has escaped his mind, the only thing there is hand sanitizers which actually do very little except ease people's minds. Germs are really an important part of life, keeps us healthy. The average person with no medical knowledge of the body does not understand this.

Too bad the steak sandwiches stopped. I never knew you could get that or the chicken. Learn something new every day on CC.

Agreed!! :(

They were REALLY good - a favorite lunch for DH - because there were a small but "real" steak - NOTa chipped steak patty, like a Steak-Um.

But.....more than these we miss the roast beef from the deli. Rare roast beef on the counrty roll, with swiss chesse, lettuce, tomato, onion and a little mayo. M'm....m'm......THAT was the best lunch , IMHO ;) :D

Oh well....*sigh*.....nothing is constant, but change!

Which your post shows.

Why so rude? You could have conveyed your message without questioning the integrity of the OP but you chose not to.

Please feel free to enlighten us as to what exactly the average person with no medical knowledge does not understand.

FWIW I'm not holding my breath.

Didn't get thru your whole post because it seemed like minor annoyances to me, but I have to comment on the hand sanitizer thing. I never use the sanitizers ever........just don't like them. However we always visit the restroom and wash our hands with soap and water before entering any food venue. Hope that explains why some of us pass on the sanitizer.

Watching everyone that comes in and trying to guess the percentage of people that use the sanitizer....well is truly weird and bizarre to say the least IMHO......

I have to agree. I'm allergic to the sanitizer and instead prefer to go to the bathroom for soap and water.

I personally hated the hand sanitizer overkill on NCL (Notice I have not sailed again). I don't want to be sprayed just because I am walking thru the area.

That said, I used it on CCL if I had been outside. But in all honesty - the stuff is bad for you. We give my mom a hard time for the constaint use of and that is why she came down with an autoimmune disease.

I used cups to fill my water bottles but then I wasted a cup. I honestly don't see how it's "dirty" to take the top off your water bottle and then refill? The lip of the bottle hasn't touched anything.

I did notice on the Elation that they used the Sandwich station for their Omlettes which I thought made it nice. (I didn't eat - allergic to eggs)

I would expect to have to wait for a slice of pizza at 5:30 am - my son was told no on the Dream - but we didn't complain,

Water bottles that don't have a plug/pull top mean that you unscrew the lid and drink from the part that has the bottle top threads. Then, if these are pushed up onto the spigot, your mouth germs have touched it and transferred. Should just not be done. It is possible to open the spigot and hold the water bottle just BELOW the spigot. Worth the time not to spread your own germs, but especially not to pick up the germs of others.

OK, I ask for something better than a rumor about Carnival cutting back on the use of stabilizers and your proof positive is a 2005 article from a cruise industry publication that quotes a Captain of Marine Operations for AIDA cruises.

So we're all on the same page, AIDA is 1 of 11 companies owned by Carnival Group. It was bought by Princess and then Princess was later acquired by Carnival. AIDA has its own executive team and caters to mostly Germans. Anyway the AIDA Captain said, "We also monitor stabilizer usage. Our captains are instructed not to use the stabilizers more than necessary."

All this says to me is use them if you need them but if you don't need em, don't use em. And at that, this quote coming from a subsidiary company manager speaking for AIDA Cruises and not from Carnival Cruise Lines itself.

Thanks, but I'd like something more concrete if you want me to believe there is a conscious practice on the part of CCL to reduce costs by not using stabilizers even at the expense of passenger comfort.

Why are you being so rude? You asked for someone to prove a statement. i provided what I had read and even stated in my comments that it from '06. I also commented that the gas prices remain HIGH. I would not be surprised if all ships did not use the stablizers less than they use to. After all the whole article was concerning cut backs related to energy consumption.

I cruise Carnival, like others of this thread. because of price and convenience. It would not be my first choice if I had the money for flights and more quality cruises. I can honestly say there has been a steady decline in Carnival since my first cruise in '03 and my last one in '10. I have my next one in about 6 weeks.

As for the hand sanitizer issue, we never eat on the Lido deck. On embark day, we eat before boarding and then we eat all meals onboard in the MDR or using room sevice. I am a cancer patient have to be very careful about germs as does my DH who has some chonic illnesses. We don't do the Lido deck at all, no food, no pool, no sun.

it's that kind of crowd.

This is the real complaint.

sloepoke: "use a paper towel to hold the serving spoons at the buffet."

Great idea but have never seen it done in all the years we've been cruising, seems it would be cumbersome. I do believe serving spoons are where you pick up the most critters.

If people would remember that the right hand holds a utensil and not use it to pick up food it would help them stay healthy. If you don't touch anything with your left hand after washing them but the food (bread, etc), you have won that battle.

I push elevator buttons with a knuckle, I don't use a stairway handrail or handrail in the hallway unless I am prepared to go wash my hands again. I have actually gone down stairs with my forearm on the rail just in case I need to grab it.

Amberteka: "CARNIVAL..hands down has the best MDR food."

We used to think that also, but for those who haven't cruised Carnival in the past 2 years, I think you are in for a shock.

Honestly, I was on the Carnival Magic for 12 days in May and had the best food in the MDR that I've gotten on Carnival in many years.

You make me laugh:rolleyes: Why would any adult have to be reminded to wash up before a meal:confused: I would be really worried about the ones that need to be reminded and only use the sanitizers......obviously you need to be reminded.......

Absolutely! To me putting the opening of the water bottle to the spigot is just as unsanitary as putting your mouth against the spigot (I don't know if that's the correct term) on a water fountain. So many germs there. I think people may do this because the either think that the bottle fills up faster this way or they don't want it to miss the mouth of the water bottle and get the water on their hands.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on this statement. I am left handed and although I have adapted and use my right hand for many things, I use my left hand to eat. I realize that you probably mean that you should use your dominant hand for holding the utensil etc., it made me sigh and shake my head, us lefties get no respect. ;)

I am one of "those" you see passing the hand sanitizer when I enter those Lido doors....and before you have a panic attack, my mommy taught me years ago how to wash my hand with soap AND water. And the 1st person who squirts anything at me, will get more back then they bargain for! I carry hand sanitizer with me that I buy at Bath and Body Works that has a moisturizer in it that I use after I wash my hands.

I dont carry any refillable cups around with me, but I have seen those that do and they do refill them. Never really thought about it I guess. I wish you good luck on your future cruising endeavor to find those who fit more of your ideal fellow cruiser....however, I think you might be a bit dispointed in what you get.

thormx64: "Honestly some people make me sick. "

And what are you adding to the sum total of the conversation. Go back under your rock.:p

Really, OP? Go back under my rock? What kind of response is that? Making more FALSE assumptions, are we? You are entitled to set your own standards, of course. No one would dispute that. With that being said, I am entitled, just as you are, to post my opinions on this forum. If it saddens you to know that you make certain people(me) sick, then too bad. One more thing.. You thinking that you are immune to some rough seas is laughable. Your past is completely irrelevant. Get a freakin grip, dude. God bless whomever it is that has to put up with your paranoia/complaints on a regular basis.
