What amenities with owner's suite?

Emauss

Recommended Posts

We just booked an owner's suite on the Jewel out of NYC for February 18th. I am having a bit of difficulty determining exactly what is inluded with the suite. I have read the list of amenities which include 3 bottles of wine or liquor and 6 bottles each of soda and water, but no one seems to know if the soda is replenished. Also each time I speak with NCL there seems to be a slightly different list of included items. (Possibly different ships have slightly different freebees?).

Anyone have specifics?

Just got off the Jewel (OS) and loved it. It was our 2nd time in an (OS). We went to the cocktail party on the 15th floor and talking with some of the people that were there I think that I am happy with the OS. Had two balconys and did have acess to the 15th floor but did not take advatage but really did not miss it. Our cabin stewart, Romeo, was great as well as the butler sorry I can not remember his name. Our consigure, Ryan was ok but we were not really impressed with him. Talking to Romeo and Ryan they were a little sad to leave Canada and head to the Caribbean. Which I think I understand after living in Caribbean for 2 years as compared to being in the area for one week

Since I ordered gin the only think that I needed was tonic which they keep providing. Best part was Cagneys for breakfast and lunch and you should be taken there once you board the ship

Hi!

Did you tip the butler and concierge? (How much, more or less, for a family of 5?) Did you pay extra for breakfast/lunch at Cagneys? Did you tip staff there too? Do you need to buy the soda card, or can you bring the sodas from the room to the pool / dining room?

Thanks

We have only stayed in Courtyard rooms but yes we tipped the Butler and Concierge generously since we did us their services every day. They are no included in DSC (tips) that go on your sign and sail. We also tipped at Cagneys and all other specialty restaurants. Rather than give you a number I would say tip accordingly to what you ask of your Butler and how often you use the Concierge. I cannot answer about the sodas since we honestly never went to the pool we stayed in the Courtyard and we never went to the MDR we ate at a specialty restaurant every night of both cruises or had dinner brought into our room or the courtyard area. You will love the Jewel and the use of the courtyard during the initial cold weather out of NY.

We tipped all three, Concierge, Butler and the room stewart, like we always do. We think that even though the room stewart is included in the tip pool he most likely works the hardest even we ar not messy people and a "few" dollars goes along way when you need something. We also tipped the waiters/waitress in Cagneys. I guess it is just us. I do drink ice tea for breakfast and lunch and they always went some where to get it for me. I do no think that they had it made up there since it took 10-15 minutes to get it

According to NCL's list, OS, DOS and Courtyard Villa all get booze, soda and bottled water included. Refilled as needed except for the booze.

Do you mean Garden Villa? The chart I've seen for Courtyard Villa doesn't have that box checked, only the OS, DOS, and GV.

Yes, your soda will be replentished in an OS, not only that, but if you require (or even request) additional (non-alcholic) beverages, your butler will take care of it for you.

I like to have milk first thing in the morning, and last thing at night. No problem, there is always milk in our refrigerator. I also like a glass of tomato juice every morning...just mention it to the butler, and it will be there.

On our first cruise, we were in the OS (Upsell Fairy), and used to wander down to the MDR in the evening for ice cream. On the second night our butler caught us in the act. From then on, each evening he brought us the most delightful sundaes and bannana splits made from hand scooped ice cream.

Whatever you want (within reason, of course), just ask your butler, if it is not "do able" he'll say so. Don't be timid.

After our first cruise, there is no way that we would ever sail in anything less than a suite, and we've always saved until we could book an OS.

You will love the OS!!!

Only the Garden Villas, DOSs, and OSs have alcohol (GV=6; DOS/OS=3), soda, and bottled water included. The soda and bottled water is replenished as needed and the butler will stock with your soft drink preferences.

The Courtyard/Haven Villas (as well as other full suites) have one bottle of bubbly (not French) and one bottle of water at embarkation. No other included alcohol or soft drinks.

I am sure my butler can swap out the sparkling for a nice cab or pinot. We're "wineaus", but not sparkling fans. As a matter of fact, we are planning on bringing a bunch of our own wine on board. I understand there is a $15 corkage fee, which is not too bad (all things considered) we really would prefer knowing what wine we are going to drink.

Can someone tell me what the Star Bar lounge access means? Is it somewhere for making reservations, free drinks? I did search but seemed to come up with a lot of answers about the bars on the Star :)

I'm looking at the Owners Suite on the Gem :)

It's basically a bar attached to Cagney's that (during the daytime) serves as the Concierge Lounge. Your suite key will allow access. It's nothing more than a bar, overlooking the pool area, where the Concierge can often be found (not always, but usually during breakfast and some of lunch) and you can make reservations with him/her if needed. Nothing included and really nothing special.

We were on the Jewel 2 weeks ago getting off last Sat :( Our Concierge Ryan was stationed in Cagney every morning where he went round each table to ensure that everything was ok and made reservation for dinner if need which he would let you know that you reservation were set and printed out a conformation which was left in your mail box outside your suite

I believe water, and soda is replenished when used. Oh you spoke with NCL? Geez I thought water, which includes Pellingrino etc was always replaced ,etc. I was hoping so anyway. I love my water as much as my wine:)
