OBC in casino?

Is it possible to us one's on board credit in the casino? We're not big gamblers, but I wondered if maybe we could cash in our OBC for chips, play a bit, and then cash out for real cash.

Otherwise is it just the spa, shopping, and fancy wine?

Sorry SeaBunny, for the most part, OBC's can only be spent on the ship and not in the Casino. A slight exception is if you have OBC's that are refundable for cash such as directly from your TA or friends, you could cash that out at reception and take the cash to the Casino. You should find cards in your suite when embarking telling you if you have any refundable OBC's. You can't use and OBC's in the Casino. Pretty sure this is the same on any Cruise Ship or line.

Enjoy the cruise, spa, shopping, and expensive (not necessarily fancy) wine.

You can also use the OBC to upgrade shore excursions once you are on board, or for private drivers in port. We got a price list from the shore excursion desk where we were on board the Mariner in April.

Also, if booked thru Dest.Desk,,would ship honor this excursion like other "Booked tours"..like will it wait for you,,etc??Prob.not, right,,,

Will be on own in several ports,,but concerned about safety,,,after having read some taxi drivers in ports are not too reputable...so would definitely do this with my OBC ,,,IF,,,these private drivers vetted...any thoughts??

Odd,,because I emailed Dest.Services and they said,,NO private tours would be arranged...sort of confusing.

We also found out on our recent Voyager cruise that we could NOT use credits toward a private car booked through Regent. We asked that of two different persons and received the same reply.

We also discovered that credits could not go to the Crew Welfare fund but are charged to your account.

You cannot get a cash advance on AMEX. Regent does not offer credit lines. We have had a credit line with that "OTHER" line for years......they are called MARKERS.

I'm going on a cruise, not to Las Vegas...

Virtually everything on Regent is prepaid so why do I need a credit line?

Just a few other things, depending on your what your loyalty level is...

Internet connection can be expensive if it's not free. ditto phone time to folks at home.

if there is a print newspaper you crave (ie WSJ), that will cost $6/day if not free to you.

we blew thru some credits by sending all our laundry out. everything. I heard the scene at the launderettes can be quite social, but doing the laundry while on vacation seems weird if we don't have to. socks cost $1.50/pr so sending out isn't insignificant.

knock on wood, you will not need to see the medic. the DH developed a troublesome blister and two office visits came to $450. someone had a cold and was also consulting the MD. unexpected stuff like that may come up.

there was caviar for sale one eve during cocktails. an easy and tasty splurge.

lastly.... there may be bingo on some days. some people really take bingo seriously and the payouts can be hilarious.
