Rare teacherman Posted October 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2011 We will be in St Lucia aboard Emerald Princess in December. We are interested in a quiet beach day at either Vigie or Reduit Beach, looking for a place to rent chairs, shade, and buy some drinks. QUESTION: Do the taxi drivers put groups together to go to these beaches, or is each couple kind of "on their own" to get a taxi? Also, does anyone know approximate cost, each way, to these beaches? Any advice/info is welcome. Thank you.
reedprincess Posted October 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2011 no, taxi drivers won't put a group together for you - that's up to you to find a group. Taxi rates are for up to 4 people, additional people are an additional charge. Rates to Vigie are about $10-$15US one way and to Reduit, should be $25-$30US one way. Vigie is walkable - about 20-30 minutes, depending on which dock you are at. No chairs or facilities at Vigie, but lots and lots of shade trees and food stands for local eats and drinks. You can hop across the road to the airport to use the restroom if needed. Reduit has lots of restraunts in walking distance, watersports for hire, chairs/umbrellas for hire - very little shade otherwise. No public facilities either, except at the 2 shopping plazas or at Spinnaker's restaurant. (Those cost $$ unless you eat or drink at Spinnaker's) Enjoy your visit!
