lritch426 Posted April 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2004 With this freestyle crusing can you eat dinner at 5pm and then again at 10pm if you want? This question is for my husband, who plans an taking full advantage of eating his money's worth LOL!
immargaret Posted April 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2004 You can eat as many times as you want in the dining rooms with Freestyle. You can also order as many entree's as you want and get a taste of everything. There are also the buffet restaurants that are open almost around the clock, the casino with late night snacks, and then there is always the option of room service (usually with excellent pizzas) open around the clock. In my opinion Freestyle is great! Margaret Until we cruise again........NCL SEA 4/17/

Dolphins Posted April 13, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2004 With freestyle, it is not unusual to enjoy an especially delicious entree at an early seating and return three hours later to another dining room to savor once again the same entree. It might be preferable to eating two entrees at a single seating. Just another advantage of freestyle dining.
CruisinMatt Posted April 13, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2004 It's fun also to eat your main meal early and then return later on for more dessert! _________________________ NCL Norway 2/00 - Eastern Carib. rtroeh Posted April 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2004 I fell into the trap of trying to eat an early dinner and then going after the show for dessert. ZoneHPH Posted April 13, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2004 wow! i know when you order the mushroom appetizer it's usually 3 small breaded mushrooms...or how about that baby shrimp salad where it looks like a spoonful of salad shrimp...but i dunno if i can do back to back dinners. as it is...ordering back to back plates on lobster night was MORE than enough. (you'd never know it...but 6 half-tails are a lot!) if you can do a tour of the dining rooms regularly...more power to you!!! Bon Appetite! WE ARE...PENN STATE! Kuppykat Posted April 13, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2004 You can virtually eat around the clock if you choose to. Although we enjoyed our dining experiences I thought the portions were skimpy ( this could be because being in a large Italian family we really don't know what portion control is.....lol)it was really enough to fill you. Also, in every restaurant we ate in not one waiter ever offered seconds. I'm not complaining though, it worked to my advantage, I didn't gain a pound.......Linda "Happiness is a choice"

bambam Posted April 13, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2004 ---burp---you bet!! And you can take an extra dessert back to the room, too. Which brings us to a packing tip - don't forget the Pepto, Zantac and Tums.... Really - two dinners the same night ... they'd need a truck to wheel me off at the end of the cruise if I did that... jenn_m Posted April 13, 2004 #11 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Why waste so much precious cruising time sitting in a dining room? If you're still hungry after dinner, eat at the buffet, or one of the other quick dining choices. They had some great desserts in the buffet on the Dawn. ZoneHPH Posted April 13, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 13, 2004 hmmm...a glutton-fest. quite possible. i gotta say...with all the shipboard activities...shore excursions...and shopping...eating at fixed times is a drag. on the Wind 2 weeks ago, we found that the way our schedules worked out; and the fact we preferred an 8:45pm dinner seating; we almost always had a "pre-dinner" dinner. nothing too gluttonous...just some snacks (honestly) from the Sports Bar Buffet. we also insisted on slow dinners...so to go from lunch to almost 9pm would be too much to ask anyone. hence the "pre-dinner" dinner. then we'd go back to the room, relax a bit...download some photos from camera to laptop...then shower up for dinner. cwpsy Posted April 14, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 14, 2004 I found that we just grazed through our days. You can do small portions and still end up eating a ton. I can remember one day...breakfast in Garden cafe, ribs on the deck, chicken skewers from Bimini bar, two orders of escargo, a great soup, snapper, crepes suzette (all from impressions) and then fish and chip from pearly kings and wings from blue lagoon at 2 am. No need for two entrees for me and I am a legendary buffet killer. Although I did have a double order of carribean lobster. gardencat Posted April 14, 2004 #19 Share Posted April 14, 2004 We found we grazed a lot on the Dawn too, early juice and maybe a muffin from the Garden cafe before a quick walk around the deck, then full breakfast in the dinning room. Then lunch somewhere. In the afternoon stop by the cafe again for a cup of tea and a small piece of cake or cookie... etc, etc, I know what you mean about stretchy clothes, Usually the tight waistband is a warning but those stretchy things are deadly

jp2001 Posted April 14, 2004 #21 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Kingz, I tried the cooking light menu one night and it actually was one of the best meal I had during the cruise. They also have sugar-free deserts. I am sure you can eat somewhat well and still enjoy the cruise. Also, there is some fitness class and the gym is great for a ship gym. YacFamily Posted April 17, 2004 #22 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Hmmm, let's see. Snack on appetizers at Impressions early, drop by Venetian and window seat for " real " supper, NO dessert yet, wait, wait ! See a show, pop in to Aqua for tea / coffee and dessert. Then, yes just maybe, after a snuggle with the love of your life, have room service bring a split of Champers and cheese. Or come to think about it, just have room service treat you like a king and queen with whatever you want !!! Gotta love the Dawn and NCL's freestyle cruisin'. Bravo and be creative ! By the way, in the oriental resto, if you tell them you want sushi a la carte, there is no cover charge. And, the sushi is UNBELIEVABLE, stop to chat with the chefs, let them know what you REALLY liked. When you go back, WOW.
