Flooded cabin on Crown Princess

Thank you for the incredibly kind words.

Don't worry about any issues they had on my sailing, they will have them all fixed prior to your sailing. I hope you have an incredible cruise. We have had many on The Crown.

This was just posted on Princess's FB page

We're delighted to share that Crown Princess just received a perfect 100 score during her public health inspection. Congratulations to our onboard team!

Wonder if they inspect cabin toilets... ;) :D

Suffolk County as well! I actually grew up in the most incredible town on the south shore, Bayport.

Nice area.

Nassau County here. 20 minutes either way to the north or south shore.

45 minutes to Brooklyn Cruise pier.

Re: FB, don't worry...I'm sure it's disappeared or way down on the list of posts by now. I think it was just the principle of the line saying it was taken care of that rattled most of us.

Makes you Want to cruise with me, doesn't it?!!!!!

I told hubby about this and he did say something about avoiding whatever cruises you're on. With us, it's more that natural disasters tend to happen when we're about to travel. Blame me for Mt. St. Helens erupting in May 1980 as I had a flight to Spokane just a few days later (the flight got cancelled as did all other modes of transportation). Blame me for the Northridge earthquake as my first cruise was exactly two weeks later (even though the suitcase that I had started to pack saved the mirror over my fireplace from breaking -- when the ground started to shake, it fell on top of my open suitcase and got cushioned -- I heard everyone else in my building suffered a broken mirror).

I even took the blame for the Washington State quake that happened a few days before another cruise -- I told a friend of mine who lives in that area "mea culpa."

But then like you (most of your cruises have been trouble free), not every vacation of mine started out with a bang or a shake. Of course, my hubby booked his first cruise for the week after Hurricane Andrew. Oh, well.

Sorry folks but I am not at all surprised they passed inspection. This is the first time I have heard of any problems on the Crown. I have always foud the ship spotless and think this is a one of situation even if it made the cruise a little difficult.

I had a problem on the TA in May where my toilet was filling up. A little water one morning on the floor but when I reported it the plumber was there in minutes.

The ship is spotless, however there were lots of issues on this sailing.

Did not bring this up yet, however.... On the last morning after breakfast in the MDR, I as well as other women went to use the public restroom that is located directly outside the MDR. It's between that and the store. The one stall had overflowed and there was well, how do I put this delicately, fecal matter on the floor. I walked out, told a crew member, told my husband and went to the back of the ship to the Platinum lounge.

I and another woman walked out kind of grossed out and I was ready to go home.

Now I am sure that this will sound like a tall story, however I know that other people witnessed this. It was one of the middle stalls and it was around 8:45 AM.

This stuff happens everywhere, even in oir own homes. I still think that Princess does an incredible job keeping their ships incredibly clean. I an a clean freak and I am always very comfortable on Princess, this just happened to be a sailing that had a few issues with their plumbing system.

I saw the post on FB about earning the 100% and I too wondered how they could get that with the toilet problems. We also took the galley tour and it WAS amazingly clean. I was sure glad about that. So maybe the ratings was just for the kitchen/food areas. I don't see how they could get that if there were toilet problems throughout the ship.

Carolyn-we too had an issue in a public restroom where "stuff" was just about to flow over the toilet. GROSS! Then trouble with our toilet in our cabin not flushing. I saw on this thread that our same cabin had this same trouble back in April of 2010!! Obviously there is an "issue" with the toilets!!

I must say that I was a bit disappointed in how DIRTY the windows were throughout the ship, especially since she just came out of drydock.

The number one issue with the toilets is the stuff people put in them that they shouldn't - and it doesn't have to be their toilet affected.

On our UST, they talked about some of the stuff that has caused toilet backups. Besides the obvious (feminine hygeine products and home brand toilet paper being the worst offenders) - golf balls, dentures, jewelry, casino chips...

The blockage from one of these can occur anywhere along the line, which makes things fun to figure out who did it.

That said, the issue the OP has seems to be a freshwater leak. While definately not a fun time, it would not be a health violation..

As far as the windows, just one day in a windy port can leave them pretty bad and it takes a while to clean them (outside at least)

I hope you all don't mnd, but I am going to ask the moderators to lock this thread. I'm off the ship at this point. I'll be sure and let you know after I talk to Princess and everything is finally resolved.

I really thank you all and wish everyone a great cruise when they take one and a wonderful holiday season.

We sailed the Crown in February, 2011 (our third time on the Crown). During our 7 day cruise, we noticed that our toilet was not flushing properly. We reported it to our cabin steward and prompt action was taken. On the morning of disembarkation, our DD and SIL were ready to leave their cabin which was adjacent to our cabin. They gave it one last flush and whoosh, more than water poured onto the floor...what a mess! The cabin steward was frantically trying to stop the flood, get it cleaned up, get help from the maintenance crew and prepare for the embarking passengers.

So, it's not an isolated incident. We were just fortunate that it happened on the last day. This was Caribe aft, starboard.
