Aft staterooms on the Sun

If you do a search, you will find a number of pictures of either these rooms on Deck 8, 9, or 10. We were in 9077 on our South American cruise and loved it. The balcony is only slightly larger because of the angle of the back of the ship. The distance from the top of the rail to the door is probably the same as other balconies but from the bottom of the rail to the door is probably two feet longer. This allowed us to have a chaise on one side of the balcony along with two regular chairs. Your feet and lower legs were "under" the slope of the rail but given we weren't really sunbathing it wasn't a big deal for us.

The room is supposed to be smaller but it isn't significant. Maybe a foot shorter. Seems like our friends in a side balcony's sofa was maybe a foot longer than ours.

Does anyone have any info or pictures of the balcony staterooms 8076 and 8276 on the Norwegian Sun? Seems like they have larger balconies but smaller rooms, but how much?

Do a search on this site as well as Google. I found some great photos and reviews when we did our original research. (Link to one below, courtesy of another CC poster.) We decided to book an aft mini-suite, however, our friends are booked in 9075. The last cabins starboard and port clearly have significantly longer balconies and the reviews are generally very good. The cabin is reported to be a bit smaller, perhaps a loveseat instead of a full sofa.

Good luck with your search.

(Cabin 9077 is a true aft)

We were on the Sun in Nov. 2008 19 day South America cruise.

We had an aft cabin as always but we encountered for the first time a soot problem from the smoke stacks and they were big pieces so while the stewards do a great job of keeping it clean as possible do not sit on the chairs with good clothing or leave stuff out to dry while in port.

I know the ship went in for refurbishing in 2011 but I don't know if they replaced the aft balcony chairs/loungers as they were pretty well stained.

It was not a problem for us being two guys but some women could get upset with this.

It would also not stop us from booking this ship and aft cabins again as it's a great smaller ship in the fleet.

@Antono -

The picture below is of the Sun's balcony 8278. I don't have any exact dimensions, but we thought it was quite spacious - as was the cabin. However, it was our very first cruise, and we are rather easily pleased. If there are any shortcomings, the gorgeous view from there will make up for them.Unfortunately Tapatalk limits us to small pictures.
