What would the best way for two adults to get from San Pedro cruise terminal to a San Diego hotel near the cruise port? Also what is a good hotel in San Diego that is walking distance from the Cruise Port?

Amtrah bus stops at catalina express terminal near cruise terminal...short walk from ship...Amtrak bus will take you to Los Angeles Amtrak station then you hop on Pacific Surfliner which will take you to Downtown San Diego Amtrak station...short walk to Cruise Pier or to Priceline Hotel which you can book for about $80-$100 downtown..

Please buy Amtrak tickets before you go to avoid lines or else San pedro bus driver may not take you...we have done this several times...fun!

Amtrak from LA to SAN is a 3 hr. trip.

IF you rent a car it can be 1 1/2 hrs without too much traffic!!

The cruise port in San Diego is right in downtown so there are tons of hotels from which to choose. I don't know your taste or your pocketbook but closest to both train and cruise port would be:

Holiday Inn San Diego ON THE Bay

Best Western Bayside

There are others that have free shuttles from train station to cruiseport and to airport(which is also right by downtown)

They might include:Mission Inn/old town

Humphreys Half Moon Inn

Doubletree San Diego

The other nice chain hotels in downtown are also close by but do not offer free shuttles.

Check Amtrak's Web site (www.amtrak.com), even phone them, for baggage limitations. Even trains with checked baggage option have weight limits. I just looked at Amtrak's Web site, and it has a "no checked baggage" notation for the bus from San Pedro to Union Station. If you have a couple of bags with you, I wouldn't think that would be a problem.
