Victory out of Puerto Rico

Just got off the Victory a couple weeks ago and loved it. Yes, a lot of Hispanics, but none were rude or boisterous. Our taxi driver even mentioned that he was heading over to the Pan Am pier after dropping us off b/c there were so many locals on the cruise they didn't need taxi's. Enjoyed this cruise immensely! And I agree with the posted who said don't let a few narrow minded opinions sway you about this cruise - I would do it again tomorrow!

Totally agree with erby!

Just putting the final touches of my review so I'll have it up soon.

We had heard that a majority of passengers on this cruise would be from PR but we had no issues whatsoever.

We enjoyed talking to people from all over and we sat with a nice PR couple for dinner who gave us a brief history lesson about PR and the relationship to the US which I found facinating.

We did notice that some familes who had rooms in our area liked to congregate in the halls but probably because the rooms were too small to hold everyone. But that happens in hotels everywhere.

Wouldn't hesitate to go again!

I was on this ship the beginning of November and it's probably out of my eight cruises, the best I've had. I found the rudest person to have been the 20 something old guy, who wasn't a Puerto Rican, who said to an old guy, "What the Blank are you doing? I was sitting there." That's RUDE. I didn't have one issue with anyone on the ship or did I pay attention. To be honest, Cruise Critic had me scared to book this cruise because of previous reports and I found 90% of it to not be true.

Just to let you know we had at least 8 people on the balcony next to ours yelling and hollering to others,,late at night,,slaming doors so hard the walls shook. We didnt do much at buffets but coffee,,,we ate at sit down breakfast and dinners. I love how Carnival has to have workers that hand out the bacon and sausage,,guess too many people were wasting the food. Racist Im not,,,we call locals here in NC Natives or locals,,,,that means they are from that area,,,Take your PC stuff elsewhere. I didnt call anyone a bad name. We enjoyed our trip. BTW its 5 ports now,St Thomas,Barbados,St Luca,St Kitts and St Marteen. Also we do have MANY Americans who eat at buffets. There were many Puerto Rican large(as in numbers) familys so they must have got good deals. And Im sure they had a great time also! It was our 2nd time on this ship. Might try a different ship on our next cruise. I hope anyone going has a great time like we did. Also note I did not say everyone on the ship was rude,,,just some. There were folks(natives) from Europe,African-American and Asian too.

This isn't the first time I've read that the Victory from Puerto Rico is full of rowdy passengers. I go on a cruise to relax so it doesn't sound appealing to me either.

I've read reviews of rude, loud and rowdy passengers too and don't

doubt that this can be true. However, as I stated, we have not had

a problem and look forward to our Feb cruise. Lots of people posting

that they had no problems so I believe there are certain times to book

or not.

Review by what could be some very ignorant and racist people.

Sort of like all the southerners that go around with KKK robes all the time. Especially people from North Carolina that are just rude and don't want outsiders.

Been on the Victory and found that the US citizens that live in Proto Rico are nice and enjoy life. I found that people from the Carolinas' to be rude and fat pigs that ate everything in sight.

I was on the Victory last year and loved it so much we're going again this Jan.

Our experience – the Victory was much quieter then the Dream. Come 9:00pm, the casinos only had a few people in it, the night club was empty. Only a few people walking around like us. I think it was due to the early port days and so many of them.

And some folks from CA are ignorant SOB's too! I bet there are a few KKK members in CA along with some nice MS13 members!:D

Well thanks for the heads up at least, I'm sure you aren't trying to indict a whole island but mearly advising on issues. I, for one, would not want to risk my enjoyment on a cruise just to try to be politically correct. And I have read enough reviews out of PR saying similar things to lend your opinion credence.

That was exactly my experience too. Other than the two formal nights, Deck 5 was empty most of the evenings. I was up until 12-1 am and STILL didn't see as many people as I have on my other cruises. I did hear the night club was full about 12:30-1 but everything else was pretty quiet.

This was my favorite vacation yet. The selling point for us was - How GREAT the people were in each island. We flew in the day before and wished we weren't so tired from flying. We loved the island so much we are talking about which island to retire to...which for SS will probably be PR. We will definately shuffle between all the islands...:D

What nationality do you think Puerto Ricans are exactly, Margie?

Nationality: Puertorican

Citizenship: US (American)

Yes, Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth of the United States, but they are first a country with its own flag, anthem, culture, Olympic team, and representation in other world events. Ask any Puertorican what their nationality is and they'll you they are Puertorican.

Wyoming may not be the most culturally diverse place in the world, but at least they teach this stuff in our schools!

They are still Americans. Each state in the US has their own flag and the US is divided into numerous difference cultures and yet we are all still Americans. We happen to have very dear friends who live in Puerto Rico and yes, I know they identify themselves as Puerto Ricans. However, technically speaking, to suggest to someone who is whining about "Puerto Rican's behavior" that "Americans do that also.." would be no different than suggesting that "Americans do that too" when talking about St. Thomas. We are all US citizens as as such, are all Americans. And in this case, I happen to know of many areas of the US where "loud" is the acceptable form of communication. I also know several places in the US where "rude" is the acceptable form of behavior. Try moving from the deep south to the Northeast if you want culture shock

I wholeheartedly agree with this post, but your question was if I knew their nationality. And to answer your question once again, their nationality is Puertorican.

When you have a moment today, contact your friends from Puerto Rico and ask them what their nationality is.

As I noted in my post, I know our friends in Puerto Rico identify themselves as Puerto Rican. But that is irrelevant to the fact. We currently live in Kentucky and as such, I identify myself as a Kentuckian. I still live under the American umbrella however, so I am a Kentuckian who lives in America. And FWIW, I have had this conversation with our friends and while, if I asked their nationality, they would reply, "Puerto Rican", I also happen to know they very strongly identify themselves as "Americans". Proudly, I might add. :)

It's relevant since you asked if I knew their nationality,

Vanessa, I'm not arguing anything you've written. In fact I'm in agreement with most, if not all of it! :)

At last count Puerto Rico was not an official US State,,,,they want to be included but to this date they are not.I think it is considered a US Territory but that does not make it a State. The residents get to vote but they dont pay US Taxs(???). We had a great time in Farajdo area,,great food,,fun restaurants and other stuff. Please note we have rude Americans too(Ive seen then in Eurpoe). I just called it how I saw it. End of point. Enjoy your cruise on this ship.

Loved this cruise, didnt experience these type of issues at all... With 5 ports of call, we werent on the ship much. Also, just because there were hispanic people on your cruise, doesnt meant they were "natives" or even Puerto Ricans....

just a side note "On debarkation day the "Natives" would not get off the ship,,,too busy stuffing the last bit of food in their guts!" ---For you to have noticed that they wouldnt get off of the ship, wouldnt you have had to be on the ship as well?
