I tried to read this review I really did, but once I got to "I was carrying my computer and a briefcase with meds, as I'm also diabetic....with bad feet." I just knew that there would be nothing gained from continuing.

Cheers,

Jeff

I am not going to flame the OP, his experience was what it was. I can think of several things that could have been done to make it more enjoyable. but why close the door when the horse is already out of the barn. I was also on this cruise and had a completely different experience.

I have back and neck (and many other) problems that make it difficult to sit and type for a long period, so I have not done a review yet. I will try to as I am able. For now, let me say that we found the food to be very good with two minor exceptions. One night my DH and DD had very tough steaks in the MDR. Mine was very tender, and they should have sent theirs back. One other evening, my steak was over cooked, but quickly replaced with one perfectly cooked. The service wasn't perfect, but it was very good.

The other issue was the eggs in the buffet. One chef manning the omlette/eggs cooked to order station might have been new to this area. His omlettes were not great and he could not make an over easy egg the entire week.

I see those issues as very minor as there were plenty of other good options to eat. We skipped dinner in the MDR twice opting for the grill and found the sandwiches there to be very good. Also had them for lunch many days.

Regarding Lido buffet (Horatio's) the staff there were WONDERFUL! As soon as I wheeled in, someone wanted to help me. carry my tray, find me a seat, fetch my drinks... etc. I was truly amazed at how helpful the staff really was.

Coffee from room service was hit and miss. For some reason. the Lido coffee tasted much better. I should say that I am a coffee snob and never liked the coffee onboard. This time it was pretty good in Lido. We just held on to the caraffe from room service and filled it from Lido for our room.

I did have an easier time with embarkation, but that was because I was in a wheelchair and was taken through and put at the front of the first line. I did have to sit through the long line to the boarding pass counter, because I did not want to separate from the rest of my party. It was long, but moved fairly quickly. From front door of the terminal to onboard, it took about an hour. I thought that was reasonable.

That's all for now, but for anyone reading the review and being concerned about booking Miracle, or taking an already booked cruise, do not fear. There are many different viewpoints from the same sailing.

We were on the Miracle 11-10 to 11-18 and had an incredible time. Your experience is yours alone, and very similar to one that I had on an NCL cruise once. Nothing went right with NCL and that's why I have never been back.

Hopefully your next cruise will be a better experience.

WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES..SEE WHAT I SEE...HEAR WHAT I HEAR...FEEL WHAT I FEEL...THEN MAYBE YOU'LL UNDERSTAND WHY I DO WHAT I DO..TILL THEN, DON'T JUDGE ME.....

I guess I don't understand why I can't give a report on what my experience was.....I have been taking cruises probably longer than some of you have been on this planet. I remember when ships, (and these forums), had a quality class of people, great food (without extra charge venues), great entertainment, and service.

The fangs, and claws, from the Carnival cheerleaders come out so quickly when somebody doesn't agree with their opinion.

I think I'll refer to you as "Carnies" from here on in.

To make cruising more affordable, for the Walmart crowd...(I didn't come up with that phrase, the industry did)...the food, entertainment, and service had to decline, whether you're conscious of that fact or not.

Just in case you carnies haven't noticed, the emperor has no clothes. (I hope I don't have to explain that.) If you want to settle for a less than a quality cruise experience, well that's fine for somebody willing to settle, and doesn't know any better. I don't settle, and...I want the cruise lines to know that their product is sub-par now.......but don't you flame me for telling the truth. Nothing I reported wasn't factual....and I dare you to prove otherwise...So go back and hang upside down in your caves, and look in the mirror to assess your motives for feeling you have to try to put other people down that don't share your enthusiasm for an inferior experience.

If you were on this cruise and enjoyed it, I'm really happy for you.

I stated in my review that I cruise mostly for the balcony....and I did enjoy mine.

Now, to address some of the personal attacks.

So, let me see if I understand you cretins...

LMHSRN....Guess you don't read much...I've read many more reviews, that were a lot more negative. Why would I stay home....did my experience affect your life, and mental well being that much?

sonicbuffalo...guess your reading comprehension skill is poor....that's not what I wrote...unless you were with me, and giving your opinion of the cruise.

Willbcruisin...if you honestly can't say "ONE negative thing" then you have some bigger serious awareness problems, than just being a carnie.....thank you for caring about my health.

leedm.....I do enjoy cruising....why would you suggest "somerhing" else. I know what a good cruise is.....having been on several quality sailings in the last 33 years.....this was not one!

Ladybug.....Actually I am fairly easily satisfied. I'm extremely satisfied venting now. I'm pretty sure CCL isn't meeting everybody's (except the carnies, maybe) expectations (unless you have talked to everybody who has ever cruised on CCL, then I'll stand corrected)....now, that is what is really sad because too many people think Carnival cruises are all 5 star....Why? Because somebody tells them they are.....Can't form their own thoughts? Or, maybe they just don't know any better. Now that is sad!

JL&Fam....I'm sorry you hate the handicapped....."diabetic...with bad feet"...."I just knew that there would nothing to be gained from continuing" What do you really mean? A handicapped person doesn't get to have an opinion? Yes, I have mobility issues because of diabetic neuropathy. Boy you people really are HATERS! Refer back to the heading. I hope you or your fam never have painful mobility issues, and I really mean that.

Here's the link for my just posted Miracle Thanksgiving cruise experience.....

http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=92789

Sorry to hear of your experience. I just got off the Miracle yesterday and my experience was the total opposite.

We had a great time, fantastic steward, wonderful MDR waiters/assistants, and attentive Lido Deck staff. I sail again on her in March and anticipate a fantastic journey.

OP-

If you've been cruising as long as you say.....you know that the price of a cruise is much less that it used to be, in real terms of $$$.

You cannot expect the same level of service.

In addition....the smallest things can bother you if you aren't feeling well.

I can't say one negative thing (other than weather) about any ship I've been on. However, if I had a headache....a toothache....or any ache....I'm sure things like "slow service" would have upset me too.

"The Carnies" aren't known for tact....I apologize for their lack of sympathy.

My review of your review had nothing to do with hate. To me it was just painfully obvious that you were not going to get any enjoyment out of your trip to "Wal-mart". A negative review by a negative person....again my opinion.

Here's to hoping for some sunshine in your life.

Cheers,

Jeff

Some people are just never easily satisfied no matter what....it's very sad actually.

Why should OP be satisfied with cold food? No ice by noon? I thought it typical of what's happening on Carnival these days.

If everyone "settles" for what comes along you'll be eating cold food that should be hot and warm food that should be cold.

I guess I am slightly perplexed by your review, I understand what you are saying but for the life of me can't understand why you would give the cruise 4 stars if there was so much you did not like. I agree cold food is never enjoyable nor is cold or luke warm coffee. I guess I am also confused as to why you cruise carnival when you say it is the walmart of the seas?

Anyway, neuroaphty sp? is very difficult and I feel for you. My cousin has it and he has such problems walking or even a sheet touching his feet. I hope the next vacation you take is filled with fun and joy!!

Wow, this is very intense. I don't think anyone was attacking you. At least, I didn't take it that way. They were just stating they had a different experience than you.

After reading your review, I didn't believe anything would be gained if I had replied to what my experiences were on the Miracle since I have sailed her 4 times. But after reading the OP's reply (more like an attack) on those who did respond, now I have to say something.

Yes, I sailed on the Miracle 4 times and have enjoyed each cruise and my balconies. Not everything was 100% perfect but neither is life.

In your review, you started off with the recovery of back problems and painful feet. Do you think it might have helped you to ask for wheelchair assist to board the ship? It would have made "carrying a computer and a briefcase full of meds" a lot easier and less painful for you.

I am not a "carnie nor one of the Walmart Crowd". I am a mother, a wife, a niece, a aunt, a friend and a grandmother. I read extensively and my comprehension skills are amazing. I can certainly recognize rudeness when I see it. There was absolutely no reason to call people names or to insinuate that they lack knowledge.

I personally do not care if you sailed with the Vikings. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of what their cruise should be. IMO, it is what I experience that makes the cruise. I like coming to CC to read about all different issues, I rarely go to the main page to read reviews. You shouldn't be making any assumptions that some people have NOT walked in your shoes. You have no idea what other people are experiencing or have experienced.

I am not trying to be rude at all. I am simply trying to point out various facts.

Happy Holidays

I have a friend from down south and he has a saying " A Hit Dog Will Holler" well I think the OP is hollering way too much at what people have said about the post. And just one point I think a person is looking for the negatives if they can give a to the second count on how long it took a switched light to come on...........geeze look at the price tag before you want your volkswagon to handle like a benz!!!!!!!

This will be my last response on this post. I took the time to write what I experienced on this cruise. If I had just said the food was terrible, then I would have been set on fire for not being more specific. (I've seen this on other reviews). If I said the light took a long time to come on, people would say I was just complaining, so I was specific....mostly to prove to myself I wasn't being overly petty....if you had a pitch dark house and you had to wait about 7 seconds every time you wanted to enter...you wouldn't fix it? Maybe it only did that when I used it.

I didn't ask for opinions, of me, my post, or to be flamed. If you remember, I traveled solo....thus paid twice what most of you pay.....(the benz price, so to speak). I rated the cruise at 4 stars because there were good things, that I did write about. Again, I mentioned that I cruise mostly for the balcony, as I don't do an awful lot of walking. I thoroughly enjoyed the ocean, and the motion....it does relax me. The food temperature, and quality were most of my negative comments. Maybe the food was better in the MDR...I couldn't get in there when I needed to eat. My time dining didn't work on this cruise. It's not CCL's fault I have diabetes....so I went where I had to go.

I didn't care for the room steward schedule, and no ice till afternoon time.....maybe it just was my section of the ship....I don't know....I related MY experience.

I certainly wouldn't expect anybody that has been on the Miracle several times to agree with my assessment......why would they?

The best cruise I had on CCL was the Glory.....but that was 6 years ago.....and with each cruise since then the quality has been noticeably declining.

The poor embarkation procedure is something that can be addressed, (with additional personnel) and fixed with proper management....but if nobody knows, or think people accept it, it won't change. Same with the lido situation on the first day. CCL has been around long enough to know it's a problem, don't you think....yet they choose not to do anything.

It's no mystery why there are no more comment cards.....what they don't "know" they don't have to fix....and people accept that.

It's not just CCL....customer service has deteriorated everywhere, as have manners, and common courtesy in the world in general. Everybody hates whomever doesn't agree with their way of thinking.

I addressed those that I felt should have been responded to......again....the original post was that "I posted a review....."

That was all.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all ! :D
