First Platinum Cruise...Perks?

We are leaving on Dec. 30 on our 10th cruise which will be our first Platinum cruise (we printed our documents and VIP is right on them!!!!!).

Please remind me of the perks we get???

Beside VIP checkin, I know one of them is free wash and fold laundry. How does this work? How long does it take to get it back and can we do it everyday if we want? This will help in packing. We hope to bring a lot less this cruise.

I love the laundry perk. You use the paper bag in the desk drawer. Fill out the form and write Platinum on it. Give it to your room steward or leave it on your bed in the morning, and you get it back that night or the next. On the Conquest it took two days, on the Elation, same day. Be advised that your bag of laundry will be put in a mesh bag and washed with everyone else's in a huge washer. If you are worried about colors, don't send it. My pink undies came back purple and whites don't necessarily come back white.

Other perks are VIP embarkation, logo item (coolers on Elation last week), yucky hor d'ourves one night, yummy petit fours another night, priority tendering, something in the casino (slot tournament? don't know, don't gamble), personal stationary. There may be something I forgot.

Past Guest Recognition Program

Platinum Guest Level Benefits

Available exclusively to Platinum Guest cardholders who have sailed aboard the Fun Ships ten times or more, Carnival’s Past Guest Recognition Program benefits are designed to recognize and reward those longtime Carnival guests for their loyalty over the years. These privileges and benefits will be offered, starting on the tenth cruise and future cruises thereafter.

For your information, sometime in mid-2012, we will roll out a new Past Guest Recognition Program. Even though we do not have details to share at this time, current Platinum and Milestone guests will be grandfathered into the new corresponding levels.

The Platinum Guests will receive a special welcome aboard letter from Carnival President and CEO, Gerry Cahill detailing the exclusive amenities and privileges available during their cruise:

Priority Embarkation

Upon arriving at the cruise terminal, the guest must ask for VIP Check-In, in ports where VIP Check-In is normally offered.

Personal Guest Service Staff

An exclusive, fully staffed Platinum Desk for personal service has been established at the Guest Services Desk. In addition, a dedicated phone line is available from 8:00am-8:00pm.

Personalized Stationery

Special stationery personalized with the guests’ name will be delivered to the stateroom prior to embarkation.

Canapés

Canapés will be delivered to the stateroom one evening via room service.

Note: For cruises 5 days or longer only

Petit Fours

Petit Fours will be delivered to the stateroom one evening via room service.

Carnival Logo Item

A special Carnival giveaway will be delivered to the stateroom.

Complimentary Entry Fee into Blackjack or Slot Tournament

The Platinum Guest (18 years or older) will contact the Casino Cashier Cage for his/her complimentary ticket.

Complimentary Wash and Fold Laundry Service

Complimentary unlimited wash and fold laundry service.

Guaranteed Dining Assignments

Guests may change their assigned dining time.

Note: This is for the Platinum guest and immediate family, maximum of two staterooms.

Guaranteed Steakhouse Reservations

Guests may get confirmed reservations for the Steakhouse.

Priority Spa Carnival Reservations and Complimentary Treatment Upgrade

Guests will be encouraged to book early to be assured of their requested appointment selection.

Priority Tender Boarding

In ports where the ship will tender, guests not on a shore excursion will proceed to the Platinum Desk and be escorted to the appropriate gangway for the next available tender.

Priority Debarkation

Guests will receive a debarkation letter offering a choice of how they would prefer to disembark the ship. They will be given the choice of Self Assist (where offered) or regular debarkation; for regular debarkation, the guest will receive Carnival Platinum Luggage tags.

The program was rolled out fleet wide on 2/23/06

Thanks for the info so far. We are going on the Elation on Dec. 30. How was your cruise last week? We were on her a year ago, but will be new to New Orleans.

The laundry service. Great we always use it. As stated before, leave it in the morning and usually it will be there that night. They usualy dont do it the lastday or 2 of the cruise or at least that is what they told us.

Entry into the blackjack or slot tournament is cool.

Priority embarking and debarkation is great.

Have fun

Enjoy your first cruise as Platinum. You will receive:

stationary, a logo gift ( we are cruising next week and hope the new bag will be the gift), entry into slot tournament, priority boarding which is great, priority disembarkation, wash and fold - you can send out every day if you wish. I am not impressed with the laundry service. Our shorts and shirts came back pushed in a bag. Would have been better if they were folded and placed on the bed. On elegant night you will receive "something" - we always trash it as it never seems appealing.

As a reminder, and this has nothing to do with platinum status, if you play in the casino contact the players club to determine if you qualify for anything.

Where did you hear that? We've sent laundry out on the last day of every cruise since we turned platinum, and it's never been an issue. Maybe they're trying to discourage use of it on those days? No one's ever told us that we couldn't do it.

Laundry is definitely my favorite perk. Love the tournament entry, even though I haven't one won yet - and DH gives me his entry so I can do each tournament. Priority boarding/debarkation, priority tendering - they may not be the best perks in the industry, but some of them are really beneficial in keeping you from spending so much time in line. :)

My Last Few cruises there was no Laundry service the last day.. I don't remember how they told us but it must have been in print somewhere because I don't use the service often because I have had a few items ruined.

Who do you think told me that? Just guess for a second....THE ROOM STEWARD.. I have no reason to lie about this, just a little warning that it may happen and i would hate for someone to pile up all their dirty clothes for the week, thinking they will all get done the last day (not that anyone implied or said that). That's all. I get this from the last 3 Platinum cruises we have been on....Legend Sept 2010 balcony cabin from Tampa, Triumph, June 2008 inside cabin rom Miami and Legend again, an 8 nighter from Ft Lauderdale in February 2007, an obstructed view cabin. So as you can see, different ships from different ports and different cabins. I don't know why, i am just passing along information i had been told.

As a comparison, do you think every person that goes into the same restaurant gets the same customer service or food quality? I sure hope your answer is a 2 letter one.

Have a nice day.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries are going to replace the petit fours.

That is a good move. ;)

That is a brilliant move!

On our second night we got back to the cabin to find a plate of them!

My eyes lit up - They were delicious!
