Mariner question about late sailings

I have been reading the post about the last several weeks with the Noro virus. I understand all that. But what I don't understand is that the ship is scheduled from Mon-Sun so why is there late embarking because of disinfecting if the ship arrived the day before?

The ship does not arrive the day before disembarking, it arrives early in the morning. One cruise ends and a few hours later, the new passengers board. The cruiseline would lose a lot of money if the ship sat in port for a day at the end of each sailing.

Mariner from Galveston is normally Sun.-Sun. There is one longer and one shorter cruise around the holidays, as well as a 9 night back in Nov. when she first arrived from Europe. Ships always arrive and depart on the same day.

It depends on how the holidays fall. This year it just so happened Xmas fell on a Sunday.
