carol53 Posted January 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Hi We did an eastern med cruise in late August 2011 - visited a few places in Turkey including Istanbul and also Athens and some of the Greek Islands. We were worried it would be far too hot but it was probably between 25 and 32 everywhere. I don't think it will be that much cooler a month later. We have visited Italy in October before and the temperatures were between 22 and 28 although that was in the south. The sea conditions were favourable except for one overnight sailing where the Captain told us to expect a Force 6 gale. It was the only day where sick bags were strategically placed all around the boat but to be honest other than a fairly gentle 'rocking' it was absolutely fine. If you are visiting Instanbul - ensure you visit the spice market - it is a pleasant stroll from where the cruise ships dock and only takes about 20 mins. We have been to Venice on many occasions but not whilst cruising - enjoy! Carol & John
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted January 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Hi, Sept 2008 I was on Independence of the Seas....the largest ship at that time.... weather was perfect whilst in the Med itself. Plenty warm enough to bathe in the sea. Calm waters. Linda
John Bull Posted January 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2012 Super time of year. :) Not too hot. Not too crowded. Few kids. In the eastern Med the weather is inclined to turn during October. JB :)

jocap Posted January 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 9, 2012 We've travelled from Athens to Istanbul at this time, and it was warm, but we did have one rainy, blowy day. We've also holidayed on Greek islands at that time of year, and sometimes it was really hot. The weather's just turning to autumn, so rain is a possibility - take a mac just in case.;) Jo.
