Anything Like This On Palm Beach?

St Maarten last year: got off the ship, got a lounge chair and 2 drinks (beer or soda - your choice) for $10.

 

I've read of some spots on Palm and Eagle that will rent chairs, but does anyone know of a spot that has a combo of chairs/drinks/food?

 

Also welcome: any advice other than what I've read on these beaches (your personal fav spots, etc.).

No the only thing you will get which includes drinks are all inclusive/day passes.

 

Otherwise, some resorts, such as the Amsterdam Manor on Eagle beach or the Radisson on Palm beach will rent a chaise and shade palapa. Both have their own beach bars/restaurants or you may bring your own beverages.

No problem :) NON all inclusive is the least expensive way to go. Now that the high season is here, any kind of day pass is going to be dependent upon hotel occupancy but there are vendors on both Palm beach and Eagle beach who rent chaises and umbrellas.

 

If you end up at Palm beach, there are two vendors at the south end of the Radisson's beach who rent chaises and umbrellas. There is a pier bar there with affordable lunches and some good happy hour bargains. Otherwise you can always bring a soft-sided cooler with some cans of soda off the ship.

I have a friend who just phoned the following Palm beach resorts for day pass pricing.

 

All prices are per person:

 

Occidental is 9 am -5 pm $77.00

Riu is 10 am - 10 pm $105.00

 

Radisson All Inclusive $75.00

 

Radisson including towel & palapa only $19

Verify all prices and availability with each resort prior to arrival.

We went to the beach, rented chairs/umbrella and there was an "over the water" bar...we got munchies and drinks....no need for a "package".

We were disappointed at Palm Beach. Way too commercial! Lots of people, too many hotels. The best part was we found our way to Hard Rock Cafe and had a great meal!

This is a very good observation. Palm beach IS commercialized. Many resort hotels, beach vendors and watersports vendors, as well as some bars and restaurants beachside.

 

Streetside is commercialized as well with three plus large shopping malls, a host of other shops and dozens of restaurants, including Hard Rock as well.

 

It is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but it does provide a lot of activitity and "action" within a pretty fairly condensed area well within walking distance to provide a nice distraction for the day.

 

Anyone looking for getaway from it all is better off at Arashi beach, but there are no restrooms.

 

Eagle beach is quiet as well, away from the larger resorts, but there are no restrooms here as well unless you purchase a day pass from the Amsterdam Manor. There is La Cabana where if you purchased food or beverage I would think they would permit you to use the restroom, but it is a very large resort with a lot of people.

Coral Princess is only at Aruba from 7AM-12:30PM -- Ridiculous it's so short!! This means we would have to leave a place by 11:30AM to get transportation back to port & get onto ship!!

There are 2 ships in port that day -- Caribbean Prin & Coral, so not sure we want to venture out to Hyatt or Radison, etc.

Wondering if Renaissance (which is close to port) would allow AM visit to their place??

I have heard varying reports as to whether or no the Renaissance is still selling day passes. Either way, unfortunately, they never had a half day pass, it was a full day including lunch and one beverage.

 

Your best bet, is to be one of the first ones off the ship and head to either Palm or Eagle beaches by taxi and rent a couple of chairs and an umbrella from one of the vendors.

Arubalisa, Is Nikky Beach an option for cruisers? Do you know if they sell day passes or half day passes? I can't tell by their website. That would be close to the cruise ships and would be a nice option for them if they did.

I am thinking Nikky Beach is still an option and probably a very good one at that. We have never been there, but it looks quite nice from the photos!
