Nickles Posted January 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2012 I know that you cannot bring irons with you because of fire hazards, but what about a small travel steamer? Are you allowed to bring that? Also, can I bring a flat straightening iron for my hair?
wolfcathorse Posted January 11, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2012 I know that you cannot bring irons with you because of fire hazards, but what about a small travel steamer? Are you allowed to bring that? Also, can I bring a flat straightening iron for my hair? You can try; but while standing in line for the naughty room on Radiance (they wanted to look at our bottled waters) we saw a table piled with irons, steamers, curling irons, etc. The shape of a flat straightening iron might not be familiar to the x-ray machine operator so that might get through. efields2 Posted January 11, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2012 You should be able to bring your hair straightener, but I'd pack that in my carry-on since you wouldn't want it to get broken with the bags being thrown around. I don't believe you can bring a travel steamer. Try Wrinkle Release spray, hanging clothes in the bathroom while you are showering, pay the small fee to have them pressed, or just wear your clothes slightly wrinkled ;). melmar02 Posted January 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2012 I haven't had a problem with my straightener, and was even able to use it on a terribly wrinkled portion of a pants leg that my beloved Wrinkle Release couldn't get out! ;)
cb at sea Posted January 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2012 All hair appliances are fine. Clothing steamers are ok, as long as it's not a steam "iron"!
golfer1966 Posted January 11, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2012 Just make sure it isnt triangle shaped...like an iron. My wife had one and we had to go to the naughty room for it. We were allowed to have it, but they held her bag.

Puffinater Posted January 11, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2012 We take a steamer every trip. Only once did we have an issue and it was fixed quickly.
