Kinda OT, but wondering.....how many of you tip above the mandatory 15%? I'm not a big drinker and don't have my favorite bartender that I visit every night, etc. so I really have never given a thought to tipping over the 15% when I get the occasional vodka and cranberry.

I've never adjusted the amount on a bill but have on occasion dropped a couple of singles on the tray, or if in the Casino a couple of "blues".

ATTN BEARDS AT CARNIVAL!!! It is way over due to have a drink card for everyone, not just those large groups. It really sucks paying $799 pp for a balcony for a week, and then having no idea that by the time your done, that $799 cabin pp really is going to cost you more like $1600 by the time you add on drinks, soda card, and excursions (oh yeah and those taxes). And that is not even considering the air fare for those of us that don't live near the port and have to fly in, or the hotels and ground transportation. I for one am going to start looking very seriously at the cruise lines that do have the all inclusive drinks included up front. I would rather know going in that I am going to pay $1000 more for my cabin for two people and not have to worry about the cost of drinks every time I order one at a bar or at dinner.

Yachts of Seabourn offer all inclusive including drinks.

You can always order liquor from Bon Voyage to have in your room. $40 for a liter of rum/vodka/whiskey. Partially fill a sports bottle on the lido deck with juice and you have poor mans colada.

Fewer and fewer All-Inclusives are including liquor.

My 2 cents...We have been on 12 cruises, BOOKED FOR OUR 13TH, and we have always set up, and then went over our budget by anywhere from a couple of hundred to a thousand dollars. If a person does just a little bit of research they can decipher just what their trip will amount to. That being said, I thought Carnival had instigated a drink package on some of their ships, with 3 tiers of packages and prices. One of the biggest problems all cruise lines face is that of over imbibing guests, and the prospect of having to deny service to said guests. Imagine the uproar of said denied guest if they have purchased unlimited drinks. Furthermore, one can always ascertain the amount of their sign n sail account balance whenever they like by using the tv in their stateroom, we are in the habit of saving all of our receipts and each evening before retiring we check the account via tv to see how well we are staying near our budget. Before every cruise we comparison shop several cruise lines for what they have to offer and price. We are booked on our 10th Carnival cruise compared to only 3 with the competition, it always comes down to one thing, who offers the best overall experience for the amount that we wish to spend, and that is overwhelmingly CARNIVAL!
