Ever win the casino?

Recommended Posts

We play Craps and either win or break even. I think we've lost once. One cruise we walked away with over $200 in winnings. On another our friend won almost $2,000 in one night at the Craps table (then lost $200 of it the next night at the same table... but still walked away with an entire month's mortgage!).

Chris we will be on the EOS next week. I have a question regarding craps. What is the table minimum and what are the odds.Single odds,or 3X,4X or 5X?

Lynn

While on the Majesty last July, they played $5 Craps with double odds. The Craps table seemed to be the only one that played the same minimum all day long. The other tables, Blackjack especially, had higher minimums in the evening.

Back to the original question:

I was lucky enough to win the Blackjack tuornament durint that Majesty cruise, netting $220.00, plus about a $75 gain at the Craps table

What is "Let it Ride"? A table game? I'll look for it next cruise...thanks

It is a poker based game where the players make 3 bets of equal value. They are then dealt 3 cards face down, with 2 cards dealt face down in the center of the table (community cards). After looking at their hands, players can choose to take 1 of their bets back. One of the community cards in the center are turned face up, and the players can again choose to pull 1 of their bets back. The second community card is turned face up, and the players use their 3 cards plus the 2 community cards to make a poker hand. A pair of 10s or better are required to win their final bet. The more difficult the poker hand, the more it pays.

I hope I explained it in a way you can get a feeling for the game.

My husband played War on our last cruise. I thought it was kind of funny that such a simple game was a casino game. It's purely based on luck like the slot machines too.

War is an even game. Where the casino gets the edge is when there is "war"

I won $400 on Rhapsody when we did Alaska in 2010. I was so excited and no one was around. I had to print the ticket and go show hubby who was playing Craps. He had to a double take. You know, the first was 'thats nice dear' then 'OH wow, Neat!'

I took that money to Vegas that year ( and of course ultimately lost it)

I was thrilled. I'm hoping for bigger winnings on our upcoming sailing. Maybe I can take it to vegas again.

I usually never play much in the casino as gambling has never been very kind to me....but my wife always has to do her free spins...which of course get's us in the casino and of course get's us to throw a $20 into the slots. So a few weeks ago on Oasis that $20 in the slots made us $70...took that and threw it into Wheel Of Fortune and said I will run it down to $50 and cash out....big spenders we are in the casino:rolleyes:....on the third spin I hit the spin and won $400...cashed out and considered myself lucky.....especially since it was on the second day of sailing....threw another $20 in later in the week and nothing.

Very serious. If you can get a close up look you will see the chips being removed have a big "L" on them for looser and the ones being put in have a big "T" on them for tighter.

Love the casino but typically do not do very well on ships. I don't play table games but love video poker (dueces wild) and slots. On the Explorer this past NYE cruise hit 4 dueces for $250 - a couple of nights later, hit the jackpot on a $1 (2 coin) double diamond machine for $1600 - and then a few nights later - same double diamond machine - hit double 7 double for $640 so I did very well.

BTW I also hit the Progressive Jackpot on the Video Poker on the same ship this past March for just less than $1300.

So its possible! Never go into a casino expecting to win tho.

Good luck all!:)

Went to the casino for the first time in my life on the Allure a few weeks back... Started with $300 on Blackjack and ended up over $800 over the course of the cruise! So a $500 profit.

Thing is, once we got a good feel for how to play the game ("what the book says" and when to ignore it :) ), winning became easy.. as an engineer by trade I worked out the math to minimize losses so you can lose more often than you win and still make money. Mostly though I made sure I was playing for fun and was willing to lose every penny I walked in with. That worked out well :)

I won a bit on Allure in November. I was playing penny slots and started with $5.00, played 90 cents and won $367.50. Not too bad! The next night on the same machine I won $190. After that my luck ran out and I lost $20 or so each night.

Which machine were you playing on? I will be on the Allure in 30 days. I will stop in the casino and hopefully win, or I will just give a donation. Thanks

I won $780 on the wheel of fortune slot machine on The Navigator last November. I dont gamble much only like $20 - $50 per trip and never win. I did a slot pull on the 2nd day with a great cruise critic group. We put alot of money through and broke even. So 2 days later I decided to try the same machine since it didnt hit big and I hit within the first $10.

Worked out well since the day before my gf had to have a appt on board with the doctor to get some medication. Doctor bill was like $250.

Which ship were you on that you saw a casino war table? I've asked this on a previous thread and no responses.

Just some little tips based on countless observations. If you are going to play slots, look at the payout table. Some of the good payouts don't pay unless you are playing max coins, so unless you are playing max, find another machine. Look at the total you can win. Two machines right next to each other. One has max payout of $2600. One next to it has max payout of $10,000. while I have won on slots, most of my winnings come from the tables. The key is don't chase your loss. If you aren't getting anything, get up and leave the table. don't follow the myth that things have to change after a while. If you play much during the cruise, you will most always be ahead at some point. Don't give it all back. Just did a 16 night transatlantic which meant lots of time on the ship (= in the casino). ended up with enough to pay off bill at end of cruise, pay tips and bring home a few hundred. Never won more than $400. any given day, just always put half my chips aside and never dip into them.
