can I just show up to Nachi w/o reservation

We will be in Cozumel Monday, but it looks like we picked a terrible week to cruise the Caribbean. Forecast is for rain in all our ports. Oh well...I'll take 80's and rain any day over the 20's we have here!

 

However, we are a group of 4 adults and 6 kids, so we don't want to pay and then have the weather miserable and not want to go and lose our money. Has anyone ever just taken a cab and shown up without a reservation? Are the rates still the same? Is this wise or not?

It's wise to make a reservation - the deposit you might lose is minimal. If you show up and can't get in you've wasted $30 in cab fare ($15 to get there and another $15 to get back or somewhere else).

 

Not sure about you, but I've never objected to enjoying a hot tub and a few drinks in the rain. :o Good luck! :)

You'd be better off just heading for Mr Sanchos or Paradise Beach where payment is more ala carte and reservations are not needed.

At Nachi you lose the deposit, Sanchos has some websites offering full refund of your deposit if weather is bad or you simply don't go to the beach....you are on the safe side right there ;)
