damiross Posted May 1, 2017 #776 Share Posted May 1, 2017 When were you on the Ruby? This past week (24-29 April). I was surprised to see the three smoking areas because my previous cruise on the Grand only had 2 smoking areas. Both, as I recall, were toward the aft end. I would go there to smoke until I realized the Casino was a smoking area 24 hours a day (except for a couple of non-smoking evenings). That made my trip from my cabin in the front to the smoking area much shorter.
Ms. Tom Posted June 5, 2017 #777 Share Posted June 5, 2017 Just got back from our 9th Princess...not sure how many cruises since smoking was banned on balcony...we had a great time with our smoking counterparts, as always...the upper-deck (outdoor) smoking area is where we meet our best friends, and I'm glad they are putting the area where we don't have to deal with the non-smokers (and their hand flapping, poo-pooing). Would Never risk smoking on the balcony (though I miss it).

suchislife1222 Posted June 7, 2017 #779 Share Posted June 7, 2017 We all know that it's quite easy to visually hide smoking on a balcony (especially at night) and I do agree the cabin stewards should inform the people about it when detected but unless passengers step up & say something about it when the actually violation is occurring there's no hope of full enforcement. Celebrity has similar violations on their ships & the smoking ban has been in effect for quite a while. Hi I just saw this review Truthfully I'm astounded by your reply or quote In my experience I have worked out that smokers have less then 00.05% of the entire ship As a NON smoker I'm still astounded once again as you have made such a selfish commentt selfishness of other non smokers

It's the rules. What is selfish is people who feel they are above the rules and that their "right to smoke" is more important than someone else's right to breathe. Smoke on your balcony and impact me in any way and I will definitely complain. I don't want to breathe or smell someone's cigarette smoke on my balcony. Period. Follow the rules or get off the ship. It's pretty simple.

I know the people on the balcony next to mine were happy when we complained about balcony smoke and joined us in calling it in to the PSD.
Ms. Tom Posted June 10, 2017 #782 Share Posted June 10, 2017 We are thinking (seriously) about sailing on the Crown in late fall (Dec.?) and I am wondering what their smoking areas are now? The Crown was our first Princess back in 2007, and we could smoke in our Room(!) and on our balcony!

mr green Posted June 13, 2017 #784 Share Posted June 13, 2017 Back some 20 years ago, I smoked, (since the age of 14). Then I started cruising some 50 years later, but, since I was able to relax I found that I had no REAL desire to smoke so I quit cold turkey. My thanks to cruising!!! Thrak Posted June 14, 2017 #785 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Back some 20 years ago, I smoked, (since the age of 14). Then I started cruising some 50 years later, but, since I was able to relax I found that I had no REAL desire to smoke so I quit cold turkey. My thanks to cruising!!! I smoked for more than 20 years. When I finally managed to quit I threw my Camels (none of those sissy filter jobs for me!) away. It was July 3. I was supposed to go to a 4th of July party the next day but we needed to "stop off" somewhere else on the way as kind of an obligatory check-in at another party. We stayed all day. Of course the original party we were supposed to attend was still going strong the next day. (We were much younger :)) so we went there on the 5th. Again we partied all day. I lived through those 2 days without smoking and decided if I was able to do that I was able to never smoke again. It's been.... I can't remember! 28 years? 30 years? Something like that. It was one of the best things I have ever done. I am really actually surprised that people start smoking these days. Those who are smokers know it's difficult to quit and many don't really want to quit but to start smoking these days... Ah, well. Not my problem. gagenie Posted June 19, 2017 #787 Share Posted June 19, 2017 Does anyone know where the smoking areas are on the Coral Princess (aside from Churchills)? Thank you! Just got off the Coral, smoking area deck 15 Starboard side right pass the Grill it is not covered and when in Alaska it was very cold up there from the wind, only time it was used was when we were docked in ports and Deck 7 Starboard side a little bump in place with nowhere to sit, standing only. Everyone mostly used the Churchill lounge because it was indoors on deck 7 Starboard side
AndWe Posted June 24, 2017 #788 Share Posted June 24, 2017 Does anyone know if there is a smoking section on the 14th deck of the Crown Princess, specifically by the Terrace Pool? I got a room near there hoping that there is smoking so I can have my morning smoke! I purposely did not get a balcony room since smoking is prohibited and why waste the money. Please let me know if I made a good choice. I'm seriously thinking about cancelling this trip.
Ms. Tom Posted June 25, 2017 #789 Share Posted June 25, 2017 I sure hope so @Andwe...I just booked on the Crown also, and picked an aft cabin for the same reason (are you going 12/1? If so, don't cancel! We'll figure it out together:)

There's a great smoking section a few steps above the Terrace pool, close to Adagio, with nice chairs and tables. It should be a 2 minute walk from your cabin. Unfortunately, not so sure smoking is still allowed by the Terrace Pool on Crown Princess. :( Seems it may not be from what sister ships are reporting. It's so hard getting CURRENT Information. Do hope someone recently on Crown will reply.

Do hope someone recently on Crown will reply. I hope someone replies as well. If smoking by the Terrace Pool is not possible I am going to cancel this trip. I'm reading the reviews of this ship and they aren't good at all. And, if it's SO inconvenient to smoke OUTDOORS near my cabin.....well, that is a waste of my time and money. Do hope someone recently on Crown will reply. I've only been on the Diamond and Emerald so I'm not 100% sure this is accurate for all ships but as far as I knew smoking was only permitted on the top deck at the Tradewinds Bar. This was as recently as January. Not being able to smoke anywhere else doesn't really worry me. I don't smoke enough to care about it.

Smoking in casinos should be banned like in almost all on shore casinos. That will never happen. It's probably their biggest moneymaker & even if the majority have to suffer through the smoke fumes they'll keep it the way it is. SilverFox61 Posted July 19, 2017 #799 Share Posted July 19, 2017 Absolutley.Seems that many enjoy the confrontation and thrive on it. So much anger. Its a pitty to be so stressed out when on vacation. We don't smoke and don't get excited about smokers. Belated Bravo!
