marshhawk Posted January 29, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 29, 2012 There is also a past guest pricing, but early saver is still cheaper if applicable. The past guest party is fun and entertaining, study up on your Carnival history for the competition. We did not attend our last past guest party-it was held while we were going to early dining-(something to think abut when choosing dinner times)
aidansaunt2004 Posted January 29, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 29, 2012 Not all cruises offer past guest rates or resident rates. We are looking to book our 4th Carnival cruise and neither of those rates are available for Alaska.

aidansaunt2004 Posted January 29, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2012 What is the benefit of a gold sign and sail card? It is offered to everyone that has cruised at least once with Carnival and under 10 times. You can get past guest rates on select cruises and you get invited to the past guest party with free drinks (cruises over 5 days). That's it! Not much a perk! You don't have the bright blue card though that the first time Carnival cruisers have.
Ksea1961 Posted January 29, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2012 Thanks for the reply! I guess some people feel more special not having a "newbie" card :)
coop24 Posted January 29, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 29, 2012 I just switched to past guest rate from military as it was the cheapest for our Alaska cruise in August. Cheaper that ES with all the fees and add on for the balcony I had.

near the beach Posted January 30, 2012 #13 Share Posted January 30, 2012 Past Guest rate usually has at least one category upgrade when you book. I have found Early Saver is usually lower. However once the Early Saver rate drops off Past Guest most of the time is the best rate. The senior rate pops up once in a while. The gold card lets people know you have sailed before. On cruises longer than five nights there is the past guest party. Usually a video of all of the carnival ships with drinks and finger foods. ccruisequeen Posted January 30, 2012 #14 Share Posted January 30, 2012 after my last emergency experience with ES (not able to change names on reservation, etc), I prefer the Past guest rate-- a bit higher, but not as many restrictions.

I wish one of the perks was that, as a past guest, you'd get to blow the ship's horn. Now that would be cool!:D

Martini Mom Posted February 10, 2012 #25 Share Posted February 10, 2012 What is the benefit of a gold sign and sail card? You will have a lot of crew members saying "welcome back" when they see the gold card. Is the past guest party always held during early dining???
