Iguazu (IGR) airport - Sheraton transfer

We're being quoted ARS 100 for an Iguazu airport (IGR) - Sheraton transfer. Does that sound reasonable?

I paid 80 two years ago, so, yes, 100 pesos sounds reasonable. The other option is to catch a cab as you arrive. You can probably save about 20 pesos this way.

Hi diditl,

Can you tel me who is organising the transfer for you. We are in Buenos Aires and flying to Iguazu next week.

Did not enjoy the hassle of the taxi touts at EZE and could not access a taxi outside without going through touts. Taxi booth handed me over to a very aggro tout who quoted close to $AR500.00 to city.

Walked back inside and arranged car through ?? Tienda Leon booth for less than half that. Courteous driver carried luggage to very clean car and drove very well.

Taxis picked up in streets in BA have been very good value so far. Still trying to sort out how to buy bus and subway tickets.

The Sheraton are organising the Iguazu Airport transfer.

How much did Tienda Leon charge for the EZE - Buenos Aires transfer? They were the ones I was going to choose on our arrival at EZE (our hotel was quoting USD50).

The current rate for Tienda Leon is AR$237 from EZE to the city center. There are several other reputable services with booths at the airport that charge less than Tienda Leon. World Car and VIP are two that I have used. Thie booths for these services are located near Tienda Leon. Also, Taxi Ezeiza charges 180 pesos and is safe and reliable. They have a free standing white/blue taxi stand (see web site for picture of the booth) inside the main terminal...directly in front of you as you exit customs.

digitl,

Sorry, no information on the EZE - AEP transfer.

Here ya go, from their web site. Check back frequently. With the high rate of inflation in Argentia, rates change regularly.

With the peso at from 4.3 up to 4.7 a $.....you are looking at about $22 ...which is not all that bad for a quick 15 minute ride.....

We just go back from there and stayed two nights but right in the little town at Jardin de Iguazu.....$120 a night..very nice....would rather stay there as the hotel has much more to do and way cheaper..and nice authentic places to eat in a 5 min walk.....ride from airport to town was 30 peso's each and dropped us off right at the hotel door.....at 11am.......then the hotel organized a driver for 200 peso's about $50 and drove us to and from the Brazil side of the falls and did all the passport stuff..easy as we had Brazil visa all done before we left home..4 border stops.....we stayed for 4 and half hrs which was enough for that side of the falls.....next day took local bus to Argentine side of the falls....20 pesos each and spent the whole day as you need a full day there...you do not need a quide as easy to organize the walks and train ride yourself just like the ordinary people.....next morning got up early....same taxi driver picked us up and took us for 150 pesos to the Brazil side to airport and we flew to Rio.....easy easy......and he did all the passport stuff again as knew all the ins and outs of the process....

We'll be at Iguassu Falls next week. How was the weather? Any mosquito problems?

The two days we were there was sun with a few clouds and hardly any wind....only wind was created by the falls themselves when close to the water.....about 90 to 95 and humid....lots of guys did not have their shirts on.....wear a hat ....no bugs.....never saw a mosie...even at night in the town of Puerto Iguazu.....took some but never had to use it....loved swimming in the pool after a hot day of walking and seeing the falls.....have fun....it was one of those WOW places..

Thanks for the input. Just for clarification, did you mean you didn't have to use any mosquito repellent at Iguassu Falls? Just out of curiosity, did you have the yellow fever shot before your trip?

Thanks.:)

  • 1 month later...

We were there in January 2011 - did see mossies and did have yellow fever vaccination beforehand - better to be safe than sorryIMO. Also you can run the risk of not being allowed back in if you have been in a designated yellow fever area.

Falls were fantastic - and the river ride was great.

In BA we used Fred for a couple of transfers. He was more expensive than others but had an excellent car, provided great service and as an ex-pat US had interesting conversations.
