I am currently book with Courtyard Marriott Downtown. It looks nice and it walkable distance to a lot of places to eat.

What do you think of this hotel?

We decided to not stay near airport, because we get in so early. We wanted downtown location so we have more option to explore just in case the hotel won't let us check in early.

I don't have any experience with this hotel other than I run by it during the Miami Marathon and wonder why no one ever stays here or mentions it.

I would stay here with a good rate however I've found Courtyard Marriotts to be a little on the expensive side but you get a lot of value.

Hopefully John or FLAHAM will chime in with what to do nearby.

I have not stayed there - my company keeps sending me to the Doubletree when I am in Miami (which is not often enough! :(). If I recall it's close enough to enjoy the dining and shopping of the Mary Brickell area.

As long as the hotel will hold your bags or let you check in early you hsould be fine. Have a good cruise. :)

PLEASE tell me you're joking and not seriously considering this???

On the bus with all your luggage plus two kids, after a red eye flight? You will only save about 20 dollars and it is so not worth the hassle... Please, save on something else (2 fruity drinks) and jump in a cab with your family....

Now I need to figure out how to get to downtown from Airport on a bus ($2.35) per person!

Hubby thinks I am crazy and he said this is not a way to cut corner. Just don't buy too much fruitty drinks on the ship!!!

I agree with Isa. 4 Plus luggage on the bus will cost you closer to $10 vs. $25 in a cab - that's not where I would choose to economize. :o

..but most of the school Spring Break is in March.

.

Not sure about where you live, but in the Northern VA area where I live the school spring break always falls around Easter week - lots of other public school systems do the same. You'll miss most of the college spring break crowd, but expect lots of kids and families on your cruise.

Have a good cruise! :)

I was completely serious...that was how we travel in Europe.I thought if it is a one direct bus then I would... BUT after calling Dade County Transporation Department...You have to take two buses plus a people mover to get to my hotel. Bus # 23 and Bus # 7...so I gues a taxi it will have to be.

Isa...got to excerise for that special steak in the specialty resturant! :)

John, I am in Southern California...where they have taken all the ship away, so we have to travel to Miami to cruise. hahahahah

Most of the school here spring break is the week before Easter or the same week as Easter.

Next year our Spring Break will be the same week as Easter! We are booking early for next year for sure.

glad you aren't taking the bus/people mover combo...

public transit in So Fla isn't exactly easy...and definitely not luggage friendly...plus if it's hot and you have to walk even a short distance..yuck.

been there done that...almost passed out outside of the JW Marriott.....i learned my lesson.....the bellman got me a cold bottle of water and i sat in the shade of the parking entrance area for a couple minutes..THEN he escorted me to the lobby...

(when i'd planned the trip out, it didn't look too bad....boy was i wrong..)

Miami public transportation is a nightmare. Nothing like Europe.
