rayandshirl Posted February 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2012 We will be on the Ruby in October for the Venice to Ft. Lauderdale transatlantic cruise. How far are the ports from where the ship is docked, i.e. Venice, Rome, Florence? Thank you very much.
Andee Posted February 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2012 The ship doesn't actually dock on Rome or Florenece--but people take the train from the ports to the cities. In Venice, it varies by ship; we could walk to some places and take the vaporetto to others. You may want to check out the Ports of Call boards for answers to your question. Rare Cruise Junky Posted February 16, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2012 You're approximately 90 minutes away from both Rome and Florence. Venice, you'd be walking distance to where you could catch the vaporetto along the Grand Canal, or take the ships shuttle to St Marks.

Italian drivers are downright crazy and have lots of accidents. Come and join our quite active roll call. There's lots of excellent information and people are putting together private tours: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1380921
