Booked the Imagination for June

ok Carnival cruise #2 for me. This time its me, my girlfriend, our kids and my mom and dad.

I have 2 boys 15 and 17 and she has 2 girls, 18 and 20. We have been together for over 10yrs and may as well be married.

This is pretty much our last chance to do something cool as a family for a while with one in college, another leaving to it after the summer then two more ready to fill those spots. My folks agree and want to to tag along as well.

Anyhow, we booked a 4 day Western on the Imagination and have some questions.

Do they have shows? My folks and GF would like to see at least one show.

Comedians?

Karaoke and the big karaoke "Legends" show? (my older son want to do that)

How are the lines? We sailed a fully packed Liberty (over 3k pax) last year and it wasn't to bad. Just hoping its the same or better.

How is the Main deck? I booked 3 OV rooms together. Carnivals web page didnt show 3 together but remembered PvP's seem to have a better system and they found me 3 together no problem. We got rooms 180,182, and 184. Down the hall from the elevators whit no inside rooms across the hall. Hopefully its quiet there.

How are the beds? Same as on the liberty? They were extremely comfortable. Does the pull down bunk have the same type of mattress?

How is Cozumel in June? Weather in general on a Western during the second week of June? I know its hurricane season but its just started then and most storms are just forming and fading off the Canary islands then. Hardly any Carribeann hurricanes in June (not impossible, just history favors us)

Sorry for all the questions. We are not brand loyalists (we have Celebrity, RCCL, Princess and Carnival between all of us) but since I enjoyed my last Carnival cruise so much, this will certainly be just as good as my last. This also saves me about 2k by doing a 4 day instead of a 7 day in June. WE are using the savings to do a 10 day Panama canal later.

I just got off that ship Friday.

The lines wasn't long, the comedy shows were funny, yes they do have Karaoke. Do you guys have assigned dinning or anytime dinning? Have you decided what you wanted to do in Cozumel? If not tryNachi-Cocom I fell inlove with that place

I posted some pictures of my OV room on this website cruiselinerooms dot com

We chose anytime dining as we did that on the Liberty and it worked out great. We eat early and got there at 5:45 and went right into fast service and hot food. I hope its the same on Imagination.

For Cozumel we are probably going to Chanabananakab. (whatever its called) as it has good snorkeling for me and my boys while the girls go swim with the Dolphins.

how were the beds?

Yes, good production shows just like on the larger ships, kareoke, and they had two commedians and clean/dirty shows.

How are the lines? We sailed a fully packed Liberty (over 3k pax) last year and it wasn't to bad. Just hoping its the same or better.

We had no problem with lines at anytime.

We found the cabins to be similar to other ships, same mattress etc.

It'll be hot!! Don't worry about hurricanes, the worst that will happen is a missed port, but it June it shouldn't be much of an issue. But it will be HOT!

We did this itin in Oct this year. Really enjoyed the ship. I'm sure the kids will love Waterworks, I know I did. Serenity deck is nice too. Key West is alot of fun, really great port. If you have any specific questions let me know:)

We did a B2B in a suite on the Imagination in January and the three day is definitely different than the four day. The four day is definitely better crowd wise. There are fewer kids and less "partiers" that make you shake your head.

Limited waiting in buffet lines, dinner rarely opens at exactly the time it should so a line does develop outside the doors. Casino is a bit small so at times it can seem a little crowded (not to mention really smokey).

Entertainment, its the older shows with newer cast members, so they aren't amazing but they are good enough to entertain you for an hour. They have comedians every night, generally three shows (at least one being adult only).

I have sailed in the OV room on the Imagination on a previous cruise, room was good, pretty standard for Carnival ship to ship.

Beds on Carnival are all the same, if you want them firmer or softer your room steward can usually pull a couple tricks out of their hat for you and make it happen (don't be afraid to ask).

They have two production shows on the 4 day. In January, they were doing Living in America and Shout. There were two comedians, one good and the other not so much. There was karaoke and they also had Superstar Live karaoke. If they had Legends, we missed it. I don't remember ever seeing it advertised.

How are the lines? We sailed a fully packed Liberty (over 3k pax) last year and it wasn't to bad. Just hoping its the same or better.

Not bad. The Mongolian Wok and the grill on lido could get long lines at peak times but things moved fairly well.

I don't know about Main, we stayed on Riveria.

I have no other Carnival ship to compare it to but compared to NCL, it was very comfy!

Don't know if you saw it already or not, I wrote a detailed (maybe too detailed, lol) review of our January cruise. The link is in my signature, with pictures :)

Have a great time!

We also sailed on the Imagination as a family. We had 3 OV's on the Main Deck (but aft facing). We loved them.

Overall, we had a great cruise on the Imagination. It's a great little ship on a perfect little itinerary. But I do recommend that you set your expectations just a few notches lower since your point of reference is the Liberty (which I consider one of the best ships Carnival has to offer). Imagination is after all an older smaller ship (expect a 90's decor, OV cabins are smaller, and some things are missing, like additional dining options, interactive TV system, etc), but it will still be a fun Carnival cruise.

In my opinion, the differences shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the cruise, but just be aware that they do exist. Have an awesome cruise! :)

Noreno,

Just wondering if you saved any of your fun times. My family and my best friend's family are traveling in March on Imagination and I would love to plan some stuff ahead of time. If you have them, could you email them to me, please, at mmpassionflies@gmail.com ?

Thanks in advance if you can,

Melissa
