I purchased a future cruise credit on my sailing of March 2011. The charge appeared on my Am Exp but I never received an actual certificate. When I called NCL they told me it takes a while for it to show up on my account. Should I have received a certificate in the mail? How do I go about applying such a credit?

I received my certificate in the mail a couple of weeks after the cruise. It's worth a call to NCL, they should be able to pull the document and give you the reference number to book with.

Good luck!

I did have a certificate, however it explained that it was just tied to my latitudes number so there wasn't much point to the piece of paper. When I booked later, the latitudes number was all they needed.

This was my experience as well. It took about 7 business days for the FCC to show up in my Lattitudes account and once it did, my TA was able to apply it to my new booking. There is no way to book on the ship with a NCL Rep anymore. You could use the internet center, but it is ridiculously slow and you wouldn't be able to apply your FCC since it would still be in process at NCL in Miami and not showing on your Latitudes account yet.

I also used a Future Cruise Credit to book my upcoming cruise. I never ever received a certificate and once I asked my T/A to book it I just received a confirmation email and the credit was applied as our deposit.

Cost was $250 with an added $100 OBC for the cruise we were on and deposit paid for a family of 4. Doesn't get much better. :)

Is it $250 pp, or just $250?

Ok - disregard my previous post. You did it for a family of 4, so I guess it's not pp. That's great!

We love this program and have used it every since our first cruise. This time we even used our American Express card to pay for the cruise and received a $300 OBC. As soon as we get on the Jewell in November one of the first things we will do is put the $250 down on our next cruise. We get the $100 OBC for that and still have $50 OBC left from American Express. Nothing like letting someone else pay for your next cruises down payment AND still having $150 OBC to use!!!

Just trying to make sure I understood what you were saying. So you were able to use your OBC to pay for the FCC?? That definitely sounds like a good deal to me!!

Once you buy your FCC you can use the computers at the computer center on the ship for free to access the NCL website and book your next one! :D

True :) . . . but with a caveat . . .

I attempted this onboard Norwegian EPIC last February, and then again this past December onboard Norwegian Sky (just to see if EPIC was a fluke). Both resulted is total failure.

The NCL site is so Flash-oriented, with mutitple pictures embedded in the opening home page, that it can take a satellite connection a looooong time to load enough to be able to advance to the next page needed for online booking (and that page has multiple graphics as well).

I attempted this process for longer than one hour just to get into page 2, and eventually gave up. In that particular setting for me, I could easily see it might take most of the afternoon to get that resolved using onboard technology. There were things to do and see, so I gave up accomplishing it on my own.

This was my experience on the Sky as well. Just wasn't worth the wait and effort.

The $250 was just charged to my onboard account. I had more than enough other spending to cover the OBC I had, but as far as I could see, the $250 charge and the resulting $100 OBC just mingled with my other charges.

If your OBC has restrictions, it might not be useable I guess. For example I think the $500 Amex suite promo going on right now can't be used toward gratuities.

They didn't give you one on the cruise? I received mine in the cabin the day after.

If you don't use the full $100 on the cruise you're on, does it roll over to the next cruise? Or do you lose it?

Assuming you have no other OBC, that $100 will be used to pay down the $250 that you paid for the FCC.

So if you charge absolutely nothing else (:p), at the end of your cruise you will owe $150 (FCC = $250 less $100) plus the daily DSC (unless you prepaid the DSC).

If you're lucky enough to have more OBC the answer may be diffferent.:(

Suppose I buy an FCC on board and book a specific cruise. And a month later I change my mind and want a different cruise, do I lose anything?

I would imagine the same rules apply as if you booked from home, all money back if cancelled before final payment is due.

Edit: Sorry, not your money back, but the FCC back onto your Lattitude account
