We will be on a transatlantic that arrives in the Miami cruise port. The best airfare home is from FLL. Looking for best transportation option from the ship to the Fort Lauderdale airport (and amount of time to plan for the trip). Thanks

Several shared shuttle operators will get you to FLL for prices starting at $15 per person -- check with SAS, QLS, and Go Airport Shuttle.

The ride takes about 45 minutes.

A taxi on the same run will charge you about $85. For about the same price you can enjoy a nicer ride with Larry's Limos; I would not book any flight earlier than about noon.

Good Luck! :)

Many shared rides (we took SAS in the past), wait until the van is full. If you are in a hurry you may wish to look for a different solution. On SAS last year, a lady who had demanded for a trailer for her scooter, was yelling at the driver and repeatedly calling the dispatcher when the van waited for others who had booked. The dispatcher got so fed up he told the driver to leave her at the port... he didn't but she truly expected to be the only passenger for the $15.00 cost.

We returned from two different Transatlantics, out of a dozen or so, where the ship did not arrive until the afternoon due to weather, combination of suicide (overboard) and a medical evacuation...

I have also been stuck at the Miami airport waiting for a shuttle that was stuck on a blocked freeway. There is also a rail connection between the airports. Enjoy the Transatlantic but if you prepare for the worst, you will always be pleasantly surprised when the trip is uneventful.
