Platinum hors d'oevres and petit fours???

It has nothing to do with pom poms, I watched the whole thing unfold on The Brand Ambassadors™ Facebook page. People were complaining so he had his own private poll and a while later it was changed.

As far as the galley tour goes, since it is a ZERO COST benefit, I'll take JHs word that it was cancelled due to lack of interest (how many times can you walk through an almost empty galley anyway  ).

Wow, you must believe everything you hear! Obviously you haven't done the tour, otherwise you wouldn't say "how many times can you walk through an almost empty galley anyway" .

Yes, the regular tour for the whole ship is just a straight walk through and out. The first and second plat galley tours we did were NOT that, we got to see every part of the kitchen, ask questions of the different chefs, even have pictures taken with sculptures. As for interest, there were 10-15 people on the tours (22 last summer), lead by the Maitre'd, what magic number determines "interest"? I saw the plat list in the casino and there maybe 40 plats on board, 25% turnout is not bad considering they didn't really mention it. If they really cared what people wanted, they'd move the "returners party" back to formal night, where 100's (not a dozen or so people) would enjoy complimentry drinks.

They didn't cancel due to "lack of interest" (which is a lie- do you like believing lies?) they cancelled it because they'd rather you spend $ on a the complete ship tour. Just another lie to go along with the "Oh, we will make improvements to the cruise loyalty program" lie that they have been spinning for for years (how many people have booked CCL cruises to get "grandfathered into platinum"?).

The Past Guest party has never been on formal night and usually the theater is completely full. Maybe you're thinking of the Farewell party on the last night. Usually there are very few people there except our last cruise where the room was full. We used to do the galley tour on all of our cruises just because they're all a little bit different. Sometimes we were the only people on the tour. I guess Carnival figured that the Maitre d' or assistant had something better to do with his time.

It seems that the new and improved loyalty program really will be announced this year since it is on the TA website that it will start the middle of this year and that's never been there before.

The few galley tours that I have done have always had anywhere from 12 - 25 people. I wanted to take two people with me once, and was told there wasn't capacity to do so. I was only allowed to take one (even though two people were travelling with me). The funny thing is, when I got there, a man showed up who had brought along 7 people. The guy giving the tour was a little surprised, but he let them go. (They weren't all Platinum either.) Oh well. It was a crowded tour. At least twice when we were on the tour, we passed by people who were on a Behind the Fun tour also. The thing I enjoyed was being able to take photos, which the BTF Tour doesn't allow.

As for the chocolate covered strawberries, I look forward to them every cruise. I was surprised on my last three-day cruise on the Inspiration, when I read a note left in the cabin saying they don't give them to us on short cruises. I recall getting them on my 4-day cruises so, to me, that seemed like a cutback. I'm just sayin'....

The official info on the strawberries is that they are given out on cruises of 5 days or longer. That is a cutback since before you got at least the petit fours on short cruises but since we never ate them we don't care.

Yeah, got them mixed up. Used to be on first formal night, lots of drinks, we'd sit in the disco, order margaritas and kamikazis, then go to the MDR for lobster with mushroom risotto. The prominade decks was really happening, got some great formal pics.

The "farewell" thing is depressing- they moved it to the last day, when people are busy packing, to cut down the number of people attending. Eventually, they will get rid of it.

Or to quote another poster, discontinued due to "lack of interest".

Sort of funny, on out last cruise, there were more people on the plat galley tour than there were at the "Farewell Celebration"!

Unless they have someone on board like me that makes sure everyone I come in contact with reads that fine print on the last day on the Fun Times. I've packed my last two cruises Farewell Celebration. :D

The word just needs to get around.
