Hawaii cruise casino ?

Recommended Posts

Is the casino open after leaving the ports while traveling to the next island? I was under the impression that the casino was not open at all during sailing between the various islands. Someone on a recent cruise told me that after about an hour from departing, the casino was opened, much like Caribbiean cruises.

At least on our Island Princess cruise in Fall 2004 the casino stayed closed the whole 5 days we were in the Islands. It was open the 5 days coming over and the 5 days going back but closed while we were going from island to island.

Have a great next cruise.

I've not been on a Hawaiian cruise, but I think the key is whether or not you visit a "foreign" port. Some ships make a very short stop at Fanning Island or Ensenada, Mexico, just to be able to keep their casino open between islands in Hawaii. The Aloha ship and others which only visit Hawaiian islands can't have the casino or the retail shops open. Or at least that's what it seems like I've heard.
