mitsguy2001 Posted March 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2012 A while ago, on another thread, I posted a list of stateroom categories on each ship. I decided to update it to include the Sunshine. Assuming that everything is correct, can a moderator make this post sticky, since it can be useful for people new to Carnival. I didn't go into detail as to the location of each category, since that would vary for each class of ships. If there is interest in that, maybe someone can post that for each ship class. Note that not every ship necessarily has the entire range of letters. 1A: Upper / Lower - All Ships NO: Night Owl - Destiny (Will become 4E when it becomes the Sunshine) PT: Porthole - All except Spirit Class 2 - 3: Not used 4A - 4I: Inside - All Ships 4J: Interior with Picture Window (Obstructed) - Destiny / Sunshine, Triumph Class, Conquest Class, Splendor, Dream Class 4K Interior with French Doors or Picture Window (Obstructed) - French Doors on the Spirit Class, Picture Window on the Sunshine 4L - 4R: Not used 4S: Spa Inside - Splendor, Dream Class, Sunshine 5: No longer used - Now designated PT 6A - 6E: Oceanview - All ships 6F - 6I: Not used 6J: Scenic Oceanview - Valor, Sunshine 6K: Scenic Grand Oceanview - Valor, Sunshine 6L - 6M: Deluxe Oceanview - Dream Class 6N: Deluxe Oceanview for 5 passengers - Dream Class 6O - 6R: Not used 6S: Spa Oceanview (Obstructed) - Splendor, Dream Class 7A: Obstructed Balcony - Spirit Class 7B: Not used 7C: Cove Balcony - Dream Class 8A - 8G: Balcony - Ecstasy, Sensation, Fascination, Spirit Class, Destiny / Sunshine, Triumph Class, Conquest Class, Splendor, Dream Class 8H - 8I: Not used 8J - 8K: Extended Balcony - Spirit Class 8L: Not used 8M - 8N: Aft View Extended Balcony - Ecstasy, Sensation, Fascination, Destiny / Sunshine, Triumph Class, Conquest Class, Splendor, Dream Class 8O: Not used 8P: Spa Balcony - Splendor, Dream Class 8Q - 8R: Not used 8S - 8T: Spa Balcony - Splendor, Dream Class, Sunshine 9A: Preimum Balcony (Obstructed) - Spirit Class 9B: Premium Balcony - Destiny / Sunshine, Triumph Class, Conquest Class, Splendor 9C: Premium Vista Balcony - Destiny / Sunshine, Triumph Class, Conquest Class, Splendor, Dream Class OB: Obstructed View Suite - Fantasy Class JS: Junior Suite - Spirit Class, Triumph Class, Conquest Class, Splendor, Dream Class OS: Ocean Suite - All Ships SS: Spa Suite - Splendor, Dream Class, Sunshine VS: Vista Suite - Spirit Class GS: Grand Suite - All Ships ES: Extended Balcony Grand Suite - Ecstasy, Sensation, Fascination PH: Owner's Suite - Fantasy Class except Elation and Paradise (Can't be booked directly) CS: Captain's Suite - Valor, Liberty, Sunshine
firefly333 Posted March 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2012 (edited) .. please not a sticky. If someone cannot look at what categories are .. like go to cruisedeckplans.com and look .. they should not be allowed to book a cruise. this is good info .. but I really dont think it warrants being a sticky. People are interested in one ship usually .. and then they dig down to categories. Most of us know the categories and know what we want to book and if someone is confused .. we can sort it out on a thread. mitsguy2001 Posted March 9, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted March 9, 2012 It's up to the moderator whether or not to make it sticky. Is there any way to put in a request, or do I just have to hope that he/she reads this thread?
Rare steve4031 Posted March 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2012 I can read the deck plans. Sometimes have hard time reconciling cabin types that I am interested with the code. For example I did not know a 7c was a cove. I knew 8 meant balcony, but not all of those sub categories. Likewise for the interior cabins. I think I'll copy and paste this info into my iPhone for future reference. Thanks op. this was great. !!!

mitsguy2001 Posted March 10, 2012 Author #11 Share Posted March 10, 2012 (edited) Thats the thing, I disagree with several things. 1A .. of course they are not all upper and lower. I put a link to the 1A thread which has what is in specific 1As .. as they are all so different, class to class. Good point. Although, Carnival refers to them as "upper / lower", and I was just using Carnival's official name. 9C, Im confused why you call it a vista balcony .. on conquest class its the aft wraps on 3 decks. I dont know what vista has to do with the description to be honest? Maybe you could explain what "vista" means in your description. Iv only heard the 9Cs referred to as premium balconys by Carnival and other sites .. or most of us call them aft wraps. "Premium Vista Balcony" is Carnival's official name for that category, on their deck plans. "Aft wrap" is a colloquial term. Probably the list should include both names. Being picky I know.. but some ships only have 6A to 6C, conquest and triumph for one .. no 6D etc.. Seeing this, I would assume that all ships have 6As to 6Es, which they dont. If you read the start of my post, I said that not every ship necessarily has the full range of letters. I believe unless it has the S next to it, it may be on the spa deck but is not a spa balcony, and will not have spa privileges. i.e. 8S According to deck plans, 8P, 8S, and 8T are all spa balconies with spa privilege. A balcony cabin on a spa deck without spa privileges would have a different designation, such as 8F on the Conquest class. Its fine for general .. but the specifics would not be enough for most people who have booked a lot and know more. If I ever have time, I might post more specific info for each class of ship. Here is a link to Everything 1A which you might want to browse. You can see they are the odd ball cabins which Carnival sticks into spaces that dont fit the standard 185 s.f cabins. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=839087 Each cabin is so different class to class, that you cant put a generic code on them. Great thread to me. Honestly, most people are not going to have the time to read through a 28 page thread, like the one you linked to. What would be more useful would be for someone to compile a list of Category 1A cabins on each class of ship and list the configuration of each one. That could be posted here, or even on another thread (that too would be worth of a sticky). firefly333 Posted March 11, 2012 #20 Share Posted March 11, 2012 Here is a link to Everything 1A which you might want to browse. OP you must have missed this link to what the 1As actually look like.. go look thru the descriptions on 1As .. they are NOT upper and lowers.. on conquest for sure...you can post your inaccurate info all you want .. but the 1As on conquest are not upper and lowers .. read the link and look at the pictures of these cabins.. you are just spreading carnival's inaccurate descriptions. We started a thread about them because we knew these were such great deals. Port hole with one twin and one convertible sofa .. I would not describe as "upper and lower" and much better than any inside to me. If you cant fix your inaccurate descriptions.. you are only misleading people who wouldnt know what great deals these 1As are.
mitsguy2001 Posted March 11, 2012 Author #21 Share Posted March 11, 2012 I based my list off of Carnival's information. I realize that maybe the description "Upper / Lower" isn't entirely accurate for Category 1A, but that is the term Carnival chooses to use. You my not like it, but Carnival owns the ship, and they, not you, get to choose what name to give each stateroom category. And, honestly, nobody is going to have the time to read that entire 28 page thread that you linked to. The first post lists all of the 1A's from the Fantasy Class through the Conqeust class, but it does not mention the Splendor or the Dream Class, which did not exist at the time. How about this, as a compromise. I will re-post my list, and instead of referring to 1A's as "Upper / Lower", I will say that 1A's have varied configurations scattered throughout the ship. And then maybe you can post that list of 1A rooms in the same thread, and add the Splendor and the Dream Class ships. At a minimum, we can include a link to that 28 page thread, which is helpful for people booking Fantasy Class, Destiny / Sunshine, Spirit Class, Triumph Class, and Conquest Class. People booking Splendor or Dream Class and want 1A will still be on their own. My question remains: how do we request to the moderator to make a thread sticky? RWolver672 Posted March 12, 2012 #25 Share Posted March 12, 2012 Thanks to the OP for this posting and all of their hard work doing it. As for us, we don't give a rat's behind what the category is.
