Are you getting bored of the same itineraries?

For those on the La Romana, Grand Turk, Curacao, and Aruba cruises. Curacao gets in really late and leaves late. The problem we had was we arrived at 2PM ships time, which was 3PM Island Time. Everything but the Bars, Casinos, and Restaurants close at 5:30 to 6PM Island Time. So we kinda missed out on the City.

I want to go back to the following places because either they aren't on the "good list" for the big Ships, or because something actually interfered with our chance to enjoy the port.

Curacao because of the time problem mentioned above.
Martinique. Because of the Frenchness (more so than St. Martin)
Grenada. We arrived on their Independence Day so again everything was closed.
St. Lucia, because we again arrived on a Holiday (the long time Governor was retiring and Castries was essentially closed)

We want to go back to Antigua, Barbados, Grand Turk, Belize.

But can do without Key West, Cozumel, Nassau, and anyplace in the Dominican Republic or Jamaica.

The b2b would be considered one cruise starting in one U.S. Port and ending in a different U.S. port with no"Distant" foreign port.

I still dont get why you dont consider Vancouver as the distant port. You mean I could possibly not get off the ship so not considered at that port? Seems to me as long as the ship is there, same as with any foreign port, I would be considered to have stopped in Vancouver.

Alaska: Seattle to Vancouver
Hawaii: Vancouver to LA, Calif.

How is Vancouver not a foreign port on each leg?? I guess I dont get Jones act as I thought if you went to one foreign port, its all you need.

Sorry, but I dont get it yet.

My TA said he will look into if its a violation .. I dont see how it could be.
I totally agree with you. I have co-workers that are always asking me why I don't go to Europe. I tell them maybe when I'm older I'd appreciate it more, but for right now vacation has to have water and palm trees.

It's just what I like!! Never will get sick of the Caribbean!!
This is my mantra!!! My sister is dying to go to Europe but I am no where close to finished with the Caribbean yet!!

We don't cruise for the ports, as long as it's away from California, I'm happy. I do wish however, that they'd offer longer/different itineraries for us Westcoasters :(
We've done Mexico 6 times now, and leave again in 17 days for the Spirit 9 day Mexico itinerary. We LOVED the Caribbean, did a b2b east/west route years ago, but just can't afford the air fare these days.

Our favorite place to cruise to believe it or not is Canada. Later this year we are going for the seventh time to eastern Canada and will go to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Come on down to NYC and take a Carnival cruise to Canada. This year is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic and there will be exhibits all year long. Salvage operations were out of Halifax. You could also learn about the great fire in Halifax. Have you been to the Fairview Cemetery and see the graves of those who perished on the Titanic? The riverwalk is nice there and they have a statue of Samuel Cunard near the pier. Don't forget the Tim Horton Coffee Shop at the Ferry Terminal. That is also where the public rest facilities are located.
Sounds like fun! I've never been to that part of Canada.. yet.
Oh, that great Tom Hortons Coffee Shop. Probably the last corporation that is canadian owned...it was bought out by Wendy's International.

So how's that shop doing?
Most Canadian corporations are Canadian owned. Tim Horton's was bought by Wendy's years ago and was the only division of the company making money. They split of that division into a separate company to cover the debt that Wendy's incurred through some bad years. It's a separate entity unrelated to Wendy's now.

I don't really need to have Tim Horton's while on an excursion I can get it any other time.. that would be like an American wanting some McDonald's when in Aruba. :)

Hopefully your PVP will get back to you quickly but you have plenty of time since those cruise aren't until 9/2013. Please let us know if it is in fact a violation or not.

Vancouver is not a "Distant" foreign port. For a closed loop cruise Vancouver is fine as a foreign port of call to make a cruise legal but not for a cruise that starts and ends in 2 different U.S. cities.

hear is a thread of another recent post about about someone wanting to do a b2b cruise that started in San Diego to vancouver and then the 2nd leg was Vancouver to Alaska if you care to read it.

Are you gay?
An obvious troll.. what does any of this have to do with cruises?

You seem to be the one with the knowledge of gay events. No I'm not gay.

If you don't know what gay people look like then maybe look in the mirror. :)

I have read NONE of the replies here, only the question of being bored with itineraries.

We LOVE us some Carnival and we loved the Conquest when she was here in Texas but we simply can't do the Jam/GC/Coz itinerary any more. The Magic didn't change our mind. I soooo wish they could figure out a way to change that up some. Just one single port that is different would get us back on Carnival. I mean cruise after cruise to Jam/GC/Coz really does get old regardless of the ship. Now they do offer the Key West/Bahamas cruise but that is even worse after it has been done once, let alone 6 times.

To the Beards.........PLEASE look in to offering more choices out of Galveston. There is just so many stops at the Stingray Sandbar, just so many bar hops in Coz and so many visits to Jam one can take.

I don't know what other fellow Texans think but it sucks that we don't even consider a cruise these days as it is 'been there-done that' when it comes to Galveston.
There are smaller cruise ships that go to Cuba. The reason US based ships don't visit has nothing to do with FC.. it's because of the US embargo.

I've been to Cuba at an all-inclusive land based resort.. it was fantastic! Was abit different since there were only about 10 Americans were at the resort, they flew there through Toronto.

Walked the streets of Havana on a day trip and that was a great experience as well, and much safer than anywhere else I've ever been in the carribean.
So cuba accepts american passport as long as you land there from anywhere but US Soil???? I was wondering......:) Thought only open to US journalists

You are asking for more choices out of Galveston, but have you checked to see what, if any, other choices might be feasible for a seven night cruise out of this port? Unless you can come up with some attractive and practical alternatives or are willing and able to go on longer cruises out of this port, cruises that they can regularly fill, you may be stuck with what they currently offer. Wishing for more varied itineraries is all well and good though "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride", and despite what Disney may preach "wishing" will not always "make it so". Offer up some reasonable alternatives and I would bet that Carnival or any other line sailing out of Galveston would be willing to listen.:)
I'm at the point where I can barely remember how many times I've been in Cozumel and Grand Cayman. Makes me wonder why 80% of the ships do almost the same eastern and western carribean itineraries.

Would be nice if they would throw a few different ports into the mix to keep things interesting. Also, I'd rather go to some of the really good ports more often (ie St Maarten) instead of the less interesting ones that are basically tourist traps.

I'm sad that I missed out on the great Miami-Panama 8 day itinerary. Hopefully, they'll restore that one with one of the newer ships.
when we started cruising, we toured at our stops, but most of them look the same after a while.

so now, we just get a cab to take us to the beach. we cruise for the ship anyways.

It is a technicality that can be difficult to explain or understand, but in simple terms there is a difference between a "foreign port" which Vancouver definitely is, and a "distant foreign port" which, under the terms of the PVSA, Vancouver is not considered. If you google the term, you should find a list of those ports of call which qualify as "distant foreign ports" and you will see that Vancouver is not included. In the same way Aruba and Cartagena qualify while Barbados and other Caribbean islands don't.

They can make Mobile, AL a port of call and put that idle cruise terminal to work! :D

JUuuuust kidding! I can imagine, a cruise itinerary out of Galveston that goes something like this:

Galveston

Anchor off Matamoros, Mexico (just to fulfill Jones Act requirements but getting off the ship is prohibited)

At Sea

At Sea

Mobile, Alabama

Panama City, Florida

At Sea

Galveston
Who's in!?

Would love to see more cruises add stops such as Antigua and Tortola!

I'd also like to see a FULL DAY stop at Curacao and Aruba. Arriving at 2pm or 4pm and staying until 11pm doesn't seem appealing to spend all that money on a cruise there, with very limited daytime island touring. Not worth it to me to book that cruise.

I agree. It was such an easy drive for us to get to Mobile. And the people that worked at that cruise terminal were some of the nicest, friendliest staff I've ever met. :(

I wouldn't say I'm bored with itineraries...I would jump on some new ones without hesitation for sure...but I honestly cruise for the ship/the sea/the service.
If I wanted to see new things I would probably opt for a land vacation. There are places I would like to go that I feel demand it, like Europe...I have no interest is doing Europe by ship.

I looked at a European cruise, but the tours seemed crazy high priced. I think now if I did Europe it would be partial land mixed with riverboat cruise.
