What is quest?

Recommended Posts

Maybe we are a little more open minded in Europe, but I have to say, I don't think there is anything remotely risque or potentially offensive - even to a minor.

It's just a big bunch of grown ups acting a bit silly. It's usually a good laugh.

The quest is only as good as its players :D

In some situations they can get a bit over the top but in a comic sort of way.

For my hubby and I as parents, we figure our 2 high school boys have seen (and most likely have DONE) worse then what happens at Quest.

This Saturday is prom and my oldest will be going with 4 other couples in a limo. They split the cost. I figure prom is about the same maturity level as the quest HA HA

This makes me think that maybe the 1 and only (so far) Quest we went to wasn't typical... If there were any minors in the audience for ours I'm sure they were quickly escorted out by their parents.

It is really just an over-hyped adult scavenger hunt that needs to be updated since so many know all the items and come fully prepared.

That is one reason we no longer feel it is something not to be missed. The better CDs are good at sniffing out those people who are so bent on winning one of the cheesy prizes that they give to the winning team that they come "fully prepared", and do change up the list of items from time to time. But I really have to wonder at the thought process that would cause someone to come to the event with a bag full of items just to increase their chances. One of the reasons people are reluctant to be more specific about the Quest is the realization that it is something best enjoyed if you don't know what to expect. I know that nothing has ever matched our first exposure to the Quest.:)

Personally, we love Quest. I was on one cruise where it was obvious people brought stuff, and I do believe the CD and staff recognized this (seriously, if he asks for something and you're in his face within 2 seconds, it's a bit obvious) and he didn't say anything to them, but that team just didn't win.

I agree that they should change it up, much like the love and marriage game, but I guess they figure there's so much turnover with guests that surely the majority of people haven't seen this stuff. I still enjoy it anyway.

One more thing I'll add... they do record Quest. And will put 'highlights' on the DVD of the sailing. So if you don't mind having fun, but do mind it being recorded, you should pass on Quest lest your fellow shipmates have an everlasting copy of your actions :D

I agree, about not understanding where the fun is in "preparing for" the game:confused: I have been to many quests...we dont play because its fun to see if people will get the joke or not, and its always fun to see what the "characters" from each crusie will do!:p

The other thing that is kind of a drag is now everyone has a cell phone and so many of the " items" are fufilled by the captains waving a photo from their phone in the CD s face...they may win the Quest, but its not compelling drama!

Another thing I've noticed is that many CDs seem less comfortable with the "making fun of homosexuals" jokes. Lets face it the CD works with gays and more and more gays and lesbians are openly cruising as couples, and we've been noticing less of this kind of humor in the show over the last few years.

Frankly more young people and people from states where gay marriage is allowed just don't find it "hysterically funny" that two men would hold hands. We're sort of used to 2 men holding hands, and it's not any funnier than a man and a woman holding hands for a lot of people. On our last crusie one of the openly gay entertainers was watching quest with his partner and a group of other entertainers and it was clear the CD was steering clear of jokes of this nature, and it wasnt any less funny!
