What is quest?

Recommended Posts

I see references to a fun activity called Quest. I've searched the RCCL threads and get questions like Can I bring my teenagers? And reviews saying it was fun. I searched RCCL site ...

But nowhere do I see just what IS Quest.

I'd love to know just what this is:confused:

It's a secret!

But do go along, its great fun! Not everyone's cup of tea but I love it!

Dependant on your ship as to whether to take teenagers along.

I was captain last year of our section and we won!!

Will be doing again this year! :)

We gave the quest 3 tries and each time it was boring unless you have the mind of a teenager.

I find it very strange that teens are not allowed as they may actually bring some good to the Quest.

Will not tell you more as you should make up your mind o your own.

Can't divulge too much info on the Quest. What happens at the Quest stays at the Quest. However, I can tell you that depending on how the cruise director conducts his/her Quest and how the other guests respond, it can become a bit adult oriented. Would definitely not bring young teens, but older teens should be ok.

Basically it is an adult scavenger hunt.

The general response here and from many is "if I tell you more than that I'll have to kill you".

Truly, if you are not easily offended go and enjoy. Our first time at Quest was on Majesty in one of the smaller lounges. Our side hurt so bad leaving. We looked forward to this on our next sailing on Mariner, and while it was good, wasn't the same as the bigger ships hold Quest in Studio B. Still fun, but just not the same.

Quest is an adult-themed scavenger hunt and is all in good fun. Some of the humor is a bit on the risque side, and depending on how mature your teenager is would determine if it would be appropriate for that age group. We've always enjoyed going to Quest, and usually participate in one way or another. It also tends to be funnier depending on how many adult beverages you've had.....;)

I was getting ready to ask if they had the Quest on Majesty. We are on Majest in May. We always look forward to the Quest. It's fun to watch, and fun to participate. My DH who doesn't like to be the center of attention, he even got in there and participated. Great FUN!!!! But, I wouldn't take a teenager to it.

The Quest is advertised as the Adult-only Quest though the content is listed as PG-13 on some ships. There is usually a sign that says 18 and over but that doesn't usually stop people from bringing young kids. As far as teens, we never brought our teen but others do. A lot depends on the cruise director, some will state that kids shouldn't be there others not so much. It is really just an over-hyped adult scavenger hunt that needs to be updated since so many know all the items and come fully prepared.

With regards to the last sentence, you're probably right...I recall wondering how some people had a few of those items!

It is adult oriented. We have witnessed some crazy and risque things during the quest. The CD was even shocked during one of them. I would not bring anyone under 18 and people who are offended easily should probably not attend either. It seems to be toned down from what it was like in the past, but some people still get carried away. It is fun. On the smaller ships usually takes place in one of the smaller lounges that is standing room only. And yes, some people feel compelled to cheat and come with a bunch of the items. They need to change it up a little bit.

Yea... I've been to it a few times, had a few chuckles, but found myself in the minority as I was not laughing hysterically, rolling in the isles the whole time.

RC states Quest is a PG13 game. Some people have different parenting rules.

I will be bringing my 2 teen boys this upcoming trip. My 11 year old daughter will not be going. They are 15 and 17 (though he should be 18 ..depends what night they do it on). I think high school level can handle it without issue. Not to sound sexist but boys going is a bit different then girls as well. Most of the PG13 stuff is due to the guys cutting up. (male brief nudity vs female brief nudity)

The fun part has a lot to do with your personality and who you are with. If you love cutting up and acting silly, its a blast. If you set up your team of 4 with folks you are cruising with rather then strangers its a ton more fun.

A few years back we went with my very religious conservative mother. She was on our team and it shocked the daylights out of all of us when she really got into it HA HA My (adult) brother and I still laugh about mom losing control of herself in the need to WIN! :D There is just something sentimental about having a very religious conservative old lady scream out to her 35 year old son, "You grind those hips boy!! I taught you better then that!" I thought I was going to need Depends that night!

The 3 and 4 day cruises on Majesty and Monarch seem to have the worst cases of people who come prepared. I had one guy get all obnoxious and in my face over it. He was actively recruiting people to be on his team before show. He asked me which items I brought. I told him I don't prepare and I'm just here to participate and have fun. Instead of walking away he started yelling at me for being a jerk

I will break with forum protocol and tell everyone one way I do prepare in the hopes of it will get the cruise directors to come up with new material. Every Quest I have been on the CD asks to see guys wearing lipstick and you see couples jumping up and down putting lipstick on the guys and they run like fools up to the CD to get their point. As soon as we hear this quest my wife gets out her lipstick, puts a line on my hand and I walk up and show to the CD and get the point. (Usually the first one) After the Quest, the CD always says, "Guys, I didn't say here you had to wear it"

One other not so much a spoiler, on these small ships people pick their own teams and it is best to have both sexes on a team. I've seen several cases where a group of women show up to Quest and then need to find a man to join their team. I will say everytime I've seen this, the man always has a good time.

On my upcoming Jewel cruise we are taking a first time couple with us, he is hyper competitive and with a few beers we have gotten him to do a few things, I think I will buy him a few beers at dinner before Quest.

The Quest isn't everyone's cup of tea. I do think there should be some descriptions without giving the game away. So lets try and give those folks an idea of what they may see in a warning type way without giving the game away.

1. You will see brief nudity. This is not porn nudity but rather "American Pie" comedy type nudity. If hairy butts offend you, this is not the game for you.

2. There is a lot of liquid courage being passed around so if you don't like to be around people drinking this is not the game for you.

3. There is a sexual theme or crude type of humor. If your the type that still think farts, burping and mooning people are funny then this is the game for you :D If you are a prude or don't care for crude humor then this is not the game for you

Personally, we love Quest. I was on one cruise where it was obvious people brought stuff, and I do believe the CD and staff recognized this (seriously, if he asks for something and you're in his face within 2 seconds, it's a bit obvious) and he didn't say anything to them, but that team just didn't win.

I agree that they should change it up, much like the love and marriage game, but I guess they figure there's so much turnover with guests that surely the majority of people haven't seen this stuff. I still enjoy it anyway.

One more thing I'll add... they do record Quest. And will put 'highlights' on the DVD of the sailing. So if you don't mind having fun, but do mind it being recorded, you should pass on Quest lest your fellow shipmates have an everlasting copy of your actions :D

Ha! I was captain of Team 4 on the Voyager's Quest and that is the sole reason my husband bought the cruise DVD. ;):p;)

Oh no...do you mean they use most of the same questions in the love and marriage game?? I recall a few from the last one including:

"what's the strangest place you've done the deed"

"if your husband is prancing around naked what do you think of first: Pee Wee Herman, Superman, or something else"

Hopefully they are original the next time!

DH volunteered as one of the team captains, clueless as to what Quest really was. Valuable lesson learned! :D

I've only been to 1 quest so I'm not totally sure how they're supposed to go, but in my opinion ours got a little out of hand. I was glad to have a few drinks in me by the end of it!

It's all in good fun, but if you're easily offended I wouldn't recommend it. And I think there is a direct correlation in the amount of alcohol you've had to how much fun you'll have!

We went to Quest for the first time on Allure. We had heard about it but didn't know what it was going to be like. We always like the love and marriage show, but find that the CD has alot to do with how tastefully it is handled. I think the best one was when we were on Voyage. The CD at the time ( no longer with RCI I understand:rolleyes:) had a very delicate way of asking the questions which added to the fun. The Quest was led by, of course, Ken Rush on the Allure last month. It started out fine, DH actually kind of got into it at the beginning. As the game progressed it become more lewd than funny. The replays on the screen were really in bad taste. That being said, if you are into that kind of thing you will probably like it fine. We won't go again.

Some of them change, but "strangest place", "what color underwear", etc all seem to come up, and I know at least one couple who nailed every last question and they admitted later that they'd been on a number of cruises so they knew what to expect.
