pampaul Posted April 1, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2012 Do you always need binoculars to see wildlife? Or do you ever see stuff "up close"? Just wondering how close you get to some of the wildlife. Are they always just little specks on the map in terms of seeing them and need a camera with a mega-zoom to capture a decent picture? Or do you luck out sometimes and see something relatively close by?
Budget Queen Posted April 1, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2012 It is rare to see wildlife up "close". and even with closeness, binoculars are still of great value picking up more details. :) Binoculars are always with me.
Kamloops50 Posted April 1, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 1, 2012 In Alaska we have had the whales come up right beside the the ship.
knorrisb07 Posted April 1, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2012 We had several encounters with whales on the cruiseship. You can see it with naked eyes. But having a powerful 8x or 10x binoculars made a huge difference. It was much clearer and life-size experience. We also took our Bushnell Elite and Zen-Ray SUMMIT binoculars for bear and bird watching duirng our trips.
