Elgato - I feel for you, and hope everything is OK and that you find out the cause of DH discomfort.

We've been through this ourselves - DH has a family history of heart disease and is very pro-active with his health (he wants to be around so we can continue cruising!) So, if he has any chest pain or discomfort, he doesn't take any chances. But the ER process can be SO tiring - a lot of 'hurry up and wait', lack of communication, etc.

Last time we were there, I was SO frustrated at the lack of healthy choices in the hospital cafe. The pizza, pretzels, panini and fries SMELLED good, but I ended up finding a yogurt and fruit salad in the grab and go. Even the time DH was admitted (he's diabetic and was on the cardiac floor) I couldn't believe how his hospital meal was high-carb, -fat, -salt and -sugar!

It's enough to drive you to drink...or eat!

Hang in there and hope everything is fine.

Hi Everyone...hope it's okay if I jump in here with the rest of you...I need to lose a TON of weight...I'm 5'4, 242 lbs, and need to lose at least 100 lbs....I dont expect to lose it all by my cruise date of March 2013 on NCL Pearl, but I'd like to lose enough not to be uncomfortable in my own skin...

I'm checking into My Fitness Pal right now!

I'll start weighing in on Sundays as well....

Yeah..nighttime eating is the WORST..but I'm tempted most times...

In fact I ate a cookie..and I even had a drink today (1st one in 7wks!..but I needed it after today)

Today in a nutshell..was pretty bad...DH woke me in the middle of the night to take him to the ER...

He had a splitting headache..had been feeling under the weather for the past two days..very tired...

This has happened in the past and since his stroke last year, his neuro had asked that next time the fatigue happened we were to call and schedule tests..WHILE this was going on to rule out neuro cause etc...so he had had tests scheduled for today anyway..I had to make the call to schedule them cause DH wouldn't do it..(typical man)

Anyway..he woke me EARLY this am to take him to the ER..and off we went....Of course I spent most of the day there with him off and on..then in his room after he was admitted. He is spending the night there and will probably be released tomorrow..we really don't know much yet..Doesn't appear to be another stroke. (thank goodness!).but he is still feeling REALLY miserable. They still had him hooked up to an EEG (that monitors brain waves for hours at a time) when I left this evening..so we'll know more tomorrow.

SO..anyway...sorry to go on and on but I came home and had to have a drink...eat a cookie and VENT someplace!

Have a good "rest of the week" everyone..and stay motivated!

Sorry to hear your DH is unwell, I hope he has been released from the hospital now and all is well.

It is very hard to remain focused and stick to healthy eating when times are trying, I know from personal experience too ( DH suffer from depression and has spent long periods in hospital) the stress caused comfort eating as it is the last thing on your mind when dashing to and fro between home and hospital so don't feel too bad about the biscuit or drink!

Yesterday I had NO excuse and went down the naughty path when we went out to lunch... Back on the horse today but I'm sure he's feeling the extra weight!!

Thanks for the encouragement Blonde and Noshoobie and welcome Judi Zeta and Local. Ups and downs are so much better when shared.

Thank You Blonde and Jilli...I really am surprised at how motivated I am this time...hope it sticks!

Good job Jilli

Blonde...don't get discouraged...my weigh-ins seem to be only 'positive' every OTHER week..fully expecting to remain the same this Sunday and then have dropped again the following one...weird...

Jilli..Australia is definitely on our 'bucket list'..we're hoping to visit your beautiful country eventually...but when we do we want to see as much as we can, so we plan to spend about six weeks to two months between Australia and New Zealand..so...we need to save some $$ and I have some reservations about being that far away from my elderly (93) mother for a long time. I am an only child and am already 1300 mi away but at least here it's a relatively short plane ride.

Have you ever been to the US?

Six to eight weeks would be great if, and when, you can. Too many people try to do it in a few days and leave without seeing so much, it's a pity.

We are on the mid north coast of New South Wales, about 5 hours north of Sydney, and always have a welcome and a bed if you come this way. Our area is

Just beautiful, we are truly blessed.

We have been lucky enough to have visited your beautiful country twice now, in 2002 when we toured Oregon and Washington State then sailed from Seattle to Alaska and again in 2008 when we toured from LA up the PCH to San Francisco. Also spent time in South Lake Tahoe, Yosemite NP ( most beautiful place I've ever been) and of course, Vegas Baby!

Itchy feet have us again coming this year to the East Coast for our New England cruise then a 16 day drive which takes in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington.

Also forgot (senior moment) that on the 2002 trip we included another cruise to Alaska and a 8 day driving tour from Vancouver to Calgary.

And the 2008 trip started with a 19 night cruise from Honolulu to Alaska! Lol it must be lack of food!! My brain has gone on holiday😜

Thanks to all for the well-wishes and encouragement!

DH is home from hospital and doing well today..a little tired...the 12hr EEG showed nothing brain related which is good news I guess..other than we still don't know a definite cause for his fatigue and confusion. There also was no infection..so we left with as many questions as answers but maybe a little knowledge can help us narrow down and pinpoint a cause.

He is really feeling very well today and looks 100% better..is mentally sharp etc...but is very freaked out cause he really can't remember much of anything from Sun nite to Tuesday nite and Weds is foggy.

I have to say I'm proud of myself for not pigging out during all this...I don't eat fast food anyway so it was easy to resist stopping for food on my trips back and forth..and here at home I ate as usual except for the drink and cookie on Weds..I did neglect the exercise routine but I plan to get back at it today.

Jilli..You will LOVE New England...I have a TON of family in Vermont, NH, and Massachusetts..that entire area is beautiful! My Mother lives in Mass...and we get up there with our motorhome every summer..I fly up every winter for a 'girls visit' also...

Washington DC is something to see! (I'm ashamed to admit I was just there for the first time two years ago..I've wanted to see the Nat'l Mall and the other sites since I was a child...my school never offered/sponsored trips there and was always jealous of other kids' trips there.)

There are two HUGE gambling casinos in CT..Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun..if you are driving and looking for a place to stop after your NE cruise.

We're in Florida on the Gulf Coast..so if you're ever down this way..lots of beautiful beaches and of course Mickey Mouse!

Take care everyone..wishing us all great success this week!

Weigh in Sunday!

I'm cruising in November for Birthday. I was really working out on a regular schedule and watching what I ate. Then I got sick, work and school became stressful. So I'm trying to get back on track to lose some weight before my cruise. My target is at least 25-30 lbs. more would be even better. :D

Welcome to all!

It's been so great knowing I'm not doing this alone!

Tomorrow is weigh-in day and I'm feeling really good about this week...even with all the drama of DH's hospitalization I didn't overeat..I logged everything and I'm back in work-out mode.

Yesterday I did all my usual exercise routines..been adding a few more reps to my weights and floor exercises..adding more work in the pool.

.so today I was pretty sore...went back to lesser reps and skipped the bike ride

@El, so pleased your DH is feeling better, you must be relieved although still puzzled as to what the problem was.

You are indeed a legend for not breaking your routine! I always seemed to go to "water" in bad times. If I'm honest with myself probably used it as an excuse to break my diet😒

@Cheleum. Your goal sounds very achievable, a dietician ice told me to aim for 1 lb a week so you ca do that by November definitely.

Now...I need to vent a bit. Yesterday I invited my cousin and his wife around for afternoon tea to discuss some genealogy family stuff. Politely refused the offer of them bringing a sponge cake. Thanked her but said I am dieting. Said I would provide the food.

Spent time, and money, to provide a lovely tea with appropriate low cal food and she turned up with a sticky iced bun, covered in butter!!

Why do people try and sabotage people trying to make positive life changing changes? I was strong though and stuck to my food and sent it home with her. Proud of myself cos I LOVE sticky buns, but has anyone else had that happe. To them?

Vent over.

Good luck everyone and all the new comers for the week ahead. I look forward to hearing about your weeks.

Jilli.😘

I have a couple of family members that encourage my dieting..but then when we're together say things like..'oh..it's a special occasion'..'have just a little' etc...

I did my weigh-in today and am only down .3 a lb..but it's a loss anyway and my weight seems to drop every two weeks..so I'm not deterred!

In three weeks we're off to our summer home in NC..five months of walking up and down hills to do ANYTHING should add to my work-out regimen.(even our Walmart parking lots have small inclines/declines)

I told DH of my plan to buy a stepper for the NC house..it's going to have to be a small one but I used to have one years ago and loved it..so..I already think I know what kind I want..just waiting til I get up there to order or purchase..We already cart enough stuff back and forth every year..don't need anything else!

A loss of any size is always good and I'm happy with a 1.5 lb loss this week. Slow and steady will get me there.

Had a big win though as my scales gave up the ghost so I purchased a new set. State of the art ones and Woo Hoo! My old ones were weighing heavy!! So I'm 2.2 lbs closer to my goal.

Good health everyone.

I'll start by saying I'm not going to let this discourage me, but ARGH! I weigh myself daily just so that I can keep in tune with what foods do what to me, and so Saturday when I weighed in I was excited to see being down a 1/2 pound and then we didn't go out Sunday like we normally do, so I thought GREAT this is the week I'm not going to let the weekend break me... Alas, apparently a few snacks and a couple small pizza dipping sticks later, I sabotaged it again! Back up over two pounds!! ARGH!

So, I completely understand about some people helping and others not... My husband who weighs less than me, and is 5 inches taller can eat anything apparently and not gain weight, so potato chips and pizza are norms for him... Now, don't get me wrong, I KNOW I'm healthier than him in what I eat, but I sure wish he could support me better and not bring that stuff into the house! I LOVE veggies etc., crave them actually, but given the time to make and create, the temptations thrown at me just get me I guess!

Ah, well, back to the drawing board and treadmill! :)

Thanks for letting me vent!!

Yeah..in a way I guess I'm lucky that DH has a bigger weight problem than I do so when I don't buy the 'junk foods' he doesn't either and that's good...no temptations! He got on the scale yesterday and has lost 10+lbs..(.not fair)..although he hardly ate a thing most of last week when he was sick..and hadn't weighed himself in two weeks.

I was at the DR the other day for annual..and was telling her about my diet plan...she says 1200 cal a day is good...but also said to just eat a regular ice cream bar instead of the low cal ...she says the reg are better for me even if they have more calories..cause she said more and more studies indicate that artificial sweeteners in diet food inhibit weight loss..and screw with metabolism over time...we'll see...

I have to use up the diet stuff first though..

Good luck to everyone this week!

Blonde..have you checked out MYfitness pal online (or an app) It REALLY helps keep me on track...

I need to start tracking my food again, I used to do WW but I didn't stick it out because I'm so busy. Now school coming to an end I can start with tracking my food again and back to my regular exercise schedule. I gained two pds back since I been off my schedule. :(

Yup, I use Spark People's app religiously... until supper time... or until I don't know something's calorie count - which usually should be a cool I shouldn't have it... Last time I lost my weight I used a similar app ALWAYS... thanks for the reminder! Maybe it will give me the kick in the pants I needed!!

Weigh-in day..only lost .9lb..but it's a loss...

Measured today also...lost in thighs, hips and waist...happy about that..

This week will be a challenge...having company for three days..we girls plan a beach day and I'm sure that will involve drinking and some junk food...but I'll try to be careful...

Good luck to everyone this week!

Happy Memorial Day to my US friends...

Good on you El! Any loss is good.

My loss this week is 1.1lb which will do me as yesterday I went to, and had a fantastic time at, a local food and wine festival.

I refuse to let this dieting impact my social life and am happy with a loss. This week won't be as social so fingers crossed for a better result.

Enjoy your week everyone.

Jilli
