Yesterday on Freedom we had to divert toward Key West for a Medical emergency. Coast Guard helicopter landed to medivac patient out.

Yesterday on Freedom we had to divert toward Key West for a Medical emergency. Coast Guard helicopter landed to medivac patient out.

 

Exact same thing happened when I was on the Carnival Dream. On the last day we had to get close to the Florida Keys so a Coast Guard Helicopter could drop a bucket on deck to carry away the sick passenger. I have a video of it.

This is nothing new or surprising.

It happens frequently on ships given that their are 3000 - 6000 people aboard.

40% over the age of 70, who are out of their usual routine.

We had to divert just offshore to Cancun on Thursday night for one also.

God Bless the Coast Guard, hope the person who was taken off is doing OK.

While certainly nothing out of the ordinary for a large group of people, this was a young woman and sounded like it started as something small. Scary how quickly a situation can turn bad, and certainly had to be scary for her family.
