Just kidding.
Smoking on the lido deck is being limited on certain ships also
Casino...small smoking area
Clubs..selective...no smoking in piano bars

JMHO
Just off the Elation as their is still a smoking section on the port side of the lido. I noticed in the Casino on the Elation that most of the machines had tags stating that smoking is permitted at this machine. The few that did not have the smoking permitted signs were the old worn our machines. :)

Although we love to cruise - it's getting to be a real pain in the a-- with all the smoking changes... In the past you'd go into the cigar bar to have a cigarette & everyone & their mother used to it as a short cut to get where ever they were going - 2 steps in & they start waiving their their hands , coughing & giving you dirty looks as they hurry their kids along because they elected to go into a smoking area !! You used to be able to smoke in cabins - but stewards had to work a little harder to get it clean for the next passengers - Over the last 3 years I've noticed stewards making up their own "No Smoking" rules - yet Carnival didn't make any changes til last year...and now Lido Deck & Balcony restrictions is just another reason to make a switch.
I"ve said it before on these boards & I'll say it again "AL's are looking more inviting every day - my $$ spends the same there"
i didn't say smoking. second hand smoke vs bbq, the bbq is worse.

and eating bbq'd meat is worse still.

but i don't smoke, so you'll have to bend over and do that yourself.
Actually and factually your wrong but i am sure facts are the last thing you care about. There was an actual study done on this very argument. 2nd hand cig smoke was 10 times worse for you than bbq smoke. By the way bbq meat is healthier than a salad with dressing on it. Just the facts baby;)
you kidding? Isn't there smoke from the grill?
Actually, the grill has a hood, that directs the smoke away. Smoking should never be permitted where people eat. This is an old converstation that has been proven futile by the smokers. Sorry.

2nd and 3rd hand smoke is a myth, but i invite anyone to google bbq carcinogens.

and make sure you don't drive behind any cars on the road.

Don't smoke but have you been to the Mongolian grill located on the inside of the larger CCL ships. I pity the cooks there.

DH and I just returned from the Fascination today and there were designated smoking slot machines all around the casino. Same for the Imagination at Christmas. Not a problem. I did notice some people smoking at gaming tables too. We had a balcony and could smoke out there, but not in the cabin. I wasn't up on the Lido deck much at all, but did see ashtrays on tables on the starboard side of the ship, just like before.
Good Afternoon . Mark My Words Carnivore will reinstate Cabin smoking soon. Losing money on new policy.

BBQ smoke never hurt anyone. Do not give Washington another taxing opp.
I dont think it will ever happen.

cruise lines in other countries have had it in place for a few years now and complaints dwindled to zero and all ships are still sailing full of both smokers and non smokers.

Its a pain with both sports bars and casino total bans added to the list of these overseas cruises as there is a total ban on smoking in all enclosed areas and at least 5 meters from any outside bars or eateries.

I am a smoker and had to get used to it,but I have been smoking so long now I believe anywhere you are restricted from smoking is a good thing for both others and myself.

Cant see the balcony ban by Carnival though, We have that here:mad:
Yes...on the Miracle they made the AFT serenity
now they send smokers up with the kids to the front lido....
makes sense to me...deck 10 is a wind tunnel...nice hot ashes blowing...that is safe
I am on the Miracle in 3 days. Could you explain the smoking policy on the lido deck in more detail? Is there still seating on part of the open starboard side of lido where you can sit and smoke while eating? What about the other open air decks?

What happens when you BBQ foods?
In general, there are two types of chemical reactions that occur when you BBQ foods. First, fat drippings from meat create smoke that is full of chemicals called PAH’s (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons). When the smoke surrounds the meat during the cooking process, it transfers these carcinogenic PAH’s onto the meat itself.
In addition, when you grill meat at high temperatures (about 300˚ F or above) and for long periods of time, a reaction in the food occurs, creating HCA’s (heterocyclic amines). Most HCA’s are found in meat that has been fried or grilled, two different high temperature cooking methods. Lower temperature cooking methods like boiling, baking or poaching tend to produce the least amount of HCA’s.

For those who want to know.

Now I know why I like to eat raw steak. My body knew it was better for me. :D

Truth be told, carcinogens aside, I'm a smoker, and I'd rather smell BBQ smoke than cigarette smoke.
I apologize everyone - I truly did not mean to make everyone get upset. Just wanted to make sure I (and my sister-in-law) abide by the rules of the ship.

Again I am sorry.

CZ
No need to be sorry, these smoking threads turn into a battle every time. What ship are you sailing? The smoking policy is different on the ships that have the Guy's Burgers on Lido. Ships that do not have Guy's burgers still have a smoking side on Lido. I think I am correct on this, but best to check w/ Carnival for your ship specifically. The new rules took affect in Dec of 2011. Smoking is allowed on balconies, except the spa balconies.
Personally, I wish they would designate some cabins smoking, some non smoking like hotels do. They could even charge a premium price for the smoking cabin. That might make everyone happier. I still don't understand why it's such a problem on an open air deck. Non smokers should just avoid the smoking areas.
Inside of deck 7 on my cruise smelled like a chain smoking hobos jacket. If I had a preference of that or BBQ pork. I guess I will have to be the odd one out and chose the BBQ pork. Crazy I know. Not worried about the carcinogens involved for the few days I have to deal with it.
My thoughts exactly. Not around 2nd hand smoke enough to worry about the health issues......but HATE HATE HATE the smell of it. And "3rd hand smoke" smells even worse.

Ok...no smoking in Serenity AFT deck lido...you can smoke on the lido...forward one side I believe.
You can only smoke in a small part of the casino/Frankensteins club.
Balcony if you have one....deck 10 one side...but usually windy.

We love the Miracle and CCl...but pretty soon the way it is going and from what is happening to other ships...soon there will no smoking on the lido at all....enjoy it while you can.
You will enjoy the Miracle...great layout...:)

Just got off the Triumph yesterday. The casino bar smoking area is ridiculously small, three bar stools and a 10 foot section of bar without stools you could smoke at. The non-smoking section was unoccupied 90% of the time... I smoke cigars so it didn't matter either way, the club that had Salsa dancing was for stogies but it was 100F in there with all the hot Latin dance moves happening...

It makes me sad we can't kill ourselves slowly easily any longer... :p

Still a great cruise, met some new friends in the smoking section.
