mimbecky Posted April 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I have a phone that doesn't support GSM, only LTE and CDMA. I understand that in general that when the ship pulls out of ports and gets out of range of land GSM, they switch to their CDMA. My question is if the ships ever get far enough out in the Greek Isles to turn their CDMA on. Experiences please?
Kamloops50 Posted April 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2012 I'm not sure but I think that they use GSM technology not CDMA. CDMA is almost never used outside of Canada or the USA.
D4 Posted April 12, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2012 This company provides cellular service for many cruise lines. Check their list for your line/ship. It looks like they do support CDMA, but I only read a little bit. http://www.cellularatsea.com/technology.htm

Guess I will get a loaner
